In both the Wii and Nintendo Switch releases of Super Mario Galaxy 2, returning to the Starship as Luigi will play a transition back to Mario and save the game. Before the game is saved, Mailtoad can be spotted T-posing. In this state, his shadow is also misaligned with his position.

It's possible to crash both the Wii and Nintendo Switch releases of Super Mario Galaxy 2. By abusing the Infinite Flutter Jump glitch, it's possible to reach the Tall Trunk Galaxy slide with Yoshi. Attempting to enter the slide with Yoshi crashes the game.

It's possible to crash any release of Super Mario Galaxy by doing a specific setup in Loopdeeswoop Galaxy. Launching into the sky with the help of a water slide will kill the player. Attempting to make the Manta Ray jump after it lands back in the water crashes the game.

There's an intricate Glitch that removes the player's checkpoint in Super Mario Galaxy 2 for Nintendo Switch's Throwback Galaxy. After getting the checkpoint at the top of the stage and walking back through the level, dying while fighting the Whomp King in Assist Mode will remove the checkpoint.

In Super Mario Galaxy 2, it's possible to die in the end-game credits by infinite fluttering with Yoshi. However, in Super Mario Galaxy 2 for Nintendo Switch, having Assist Mode enabled prevents the player from dying, instead taking them to the previous section where the visible level is unloaded.
