SRC has been incredibly important for speedrunning history, information, and accuracy. After Elo took over, they’ve slowly jeopardized all of this. Lots of content has been removed because of their decisions. This is the last straw. If this goes through, SRC will be completely useless. Fight this.

more to the point: if we actually want to break a cycle of someone's criminal harm, it has been established that punitive sanctions only increase the likelihood of them reoffending later—likewise with stigmatization. so applying these to someone who has done wrong is often totally counterproductive

like i'm not sure what's hard to grasp about the fact that (1) his punishment was not sufficient but (2) how we discipline people produces little if any harm reduction and mostly just causes people in that position to become worse, less repentant, and less willing to own up to/remediate harm they do

i think a problem here is a lot of you want a justice system which induces catharsis rather than a justice system which strives for positive outcomes—and you fail to realize that justice in service of catharsis is usually deeply reactionary and conservative rather than constructive and progressive

Think fundamentally people need to remember that FA is host to a community that is largely unmonetizable due to it being chocked full of fetish art. The trade off of capitalism not getting its hands all over the subculture is that ultimately community infrastructure needs to be community funded.

"hey catshaped how did you not realize this sooner" well you see i simply thought other people were the ones being weird because i assumed my experience was the default when my experience was very much not the default. hope this helps #art

panel 1: orange cat looks down at phone. "idk why people care so much about being single... you have hobbies. you have friends. if you're desparate i think something's wrong with you" panel 2: orange cat with a confused expression. "actually, have i ever had a genuine romantic crush? the only examples i can think of are sexual attraction" panel 3: orange cat with a shocked expression with an aromantic pride flag overlayed on top. "Oh."

one of the worst and most terrifying pieces of information that ive learned is that in order to make friends you kind of have to be annoying to people. and if they like it thenn you can be friends. friendship is just when you both like when the other one is annoying
