As the Ford government diverts funding to private facilities, Ontario’s public operating rooms are underutilized. Many sit dark on weekends; others become storage rooms, a monumental waste of an expensive resource.

This waste is compounded by a massive price premium. CBC News found Ontario paid Clearpoint’s for-profit facilities 2.5 times more for cataract surgeries and 3.1 times more for knee arthroscopies than public hospitals.

Closer to my own work, I can't forget Ford eliminating the Science Advisory Table while covid still remained a serious threat. Like Trump, Ford remembers who opposed him at times when it came to his bad pandemic decisions, some that cost thousands of lives.

I also haven't forgotten Ford's closing of the Science Centre in an area ripe for development. And he did so despite the overwhelming advice from architects and engineers that it did not need to be closed. I was reminded of this when I saw Trump's vandalism of the Reflecting Pool and Kennedy Centre.

Another example: I can't forget that the RCMP started an investigation into the Ford government's greenbelt scandal three years ago. And that investigation is still active, although the media spotlight has moved on.

One of my flaws is the inability to forget important facts after the media spotlight moves on. For example, I still do not understand why Doug Ford pulled a Trumpian move by installing his own political staffers in the panel that is supposed to independently appoint provincial judges.
