The changes to the Canada Labour Code in this new bill are “without precedent in Canadian law and they’re without precedent even amongst our trading partners in the G7.” “It provides the complete and unlimited discretion to the federal minister to decide who gets to go on strike and who does not.”

Three sovereignty priorities I'm concerned about in any Trump deal: 1. Defence. Systems must be independent of US manufacturer/govt controls. 2. Digital sovereignty. We must be able to regulate and control foreign-owned platforms. 3. Food supply. We can't depend on the US for basic food.

From one of the many PR emails I'm getting about the government social media ban. Obviously this is from someone selling this technology. But stop to think about just how utterly dystopian this is: *constant* video surveillance of all online activity, for everyone.
To keep our children truly safe, technology platforms need to be installing fused biometrics - combining voice and facial signals – to be 100 per cent certain that the person using the platform is the account holder. This also continuously verifies the person throughout the session preventing any tech savvy child from being able to work around restrictions.

This is an awful, awful thing to do to an Indigenous MP on an important Indigenous issue. Try to imagine yourself treating an Indigenous man this way in front of more than 100 people. You can't, can you?
That’s why the exchange with Mr. Battiste generated a lot of raised eyebrows.

Five MPs said that on that day, the Nova Scotia MP was highlighting concerns about Bill S-2, which amends the Indian Act, and more broadly about how the Liberal government is perceived among Indigenous groups.

The MPs said Mr. Carney told him that the government’s position on the bill had been decided – with Mr. Battiste’s input – and that if there was a negative perception among Indigenous groups, it was Mr. Battiste’s issue to manage.

Three MPs described the exchange as the Prime Minister losing it on Mr. Battiste, ripping a strip off him or dressing him down. However, that last description was delivered with an asterisk: other Liberals in the room, they said, sided with the Prime Minister in substance, if not his tone.

Disappointed to see Jon Stewart & co joke about masking in public. I do it for my medically fragile daughter (Batten Disease). People not masking properly led to her getting pneumonia, which led to her being on life support, which led to me getting price quotes on her cremation just in case.
A screenshot of an episode of The Weekly Show with Jon Stewart with captions that read:

Tim Miller: Well, it's a progressive outlet, so there are a couple of people wearing masks.

Jon Stewart: Oh, there's always two. And you always say, "Oh, are you sick?"

And they go, "Uh, I don't want to talk about it."
