The Steam Deck is so cool. It's completely changed how I play games on Steam. I grab it frequently throughout the day to play little 10-15 minute sessions. I never used to boot up my gaming laptop to play like that. The device is very well designed and built too. I love it.

Implemented a simple red/green indicator system to prevent the trash from being taken out when the bag has plenty of space left. Red = stop, leave the bag alone. Green = good to go outside. #firstworldproblems

A close-up photograph of a desktop waste management organizer positioned on a wooden surface. On the left side is a blue circular icon displaying a recycling symbol with three curved arrows. In the center is an oval toggle switch with a red portion visible on the left side and a black portion on the right side, which hides the green portion of the indicator. On the right side is a black circular icon containing a white illustration of a trash can with vertical lines. The toggle switch serves as a visual indicator: when switched to red, it signals that trash bags are ready to be taken outside; when switched to green (not currently visible), it indicates bags are ready for changing.

People are irrationally concerned about cameras on glasses. There are so, so many other more valid and consequential concerns about privacy. A camera on some fool's stupid glasses is at the very bottom of the list. It's like people who try to save the planet by not using plastic straws. Useless.

Apple is incredible. They somehow took their disastrously designed copy-paste feature and made it significantly worse in iOS 27. I did not think it could get worse, but Apple proved me wrong.

Morning naps are some of the best. #cats

A tabby cat with closed eyes rests peacefully on a gray fabric perch positioned against a bright window. The cat's head is tilted slightly downward in a relaxed nap pose, with ears alert and whiskers visible in sharp detail. Sunlight streams through the window behind, creating dappled shadows across the screen and illuminating the cat's striped fur. The scene captures a serene moment of domestic contentment.

This season of Formula 1 has been so bad that yesterday was the first time I didn’t watch a full grand Prix since 2014. Even when the track isn’t miserable, the racing is boring. The sport will be in trouble if next season is anything like this one.

I love Home Assistant. My latest obsession is lights that trigger to dos. Cat litter box needs cleaning? The litter box light turns on. Water bowls need refilling? The water bowl light turns on. Garbage day is tomorrow? The garbage light turns on. I'll put together a blog post about it all soon.

Three ways to tell if a driver is dumb: 1. They put bumper stickers and decals on their car's paint instead of the windows. 2. They don't know how decals work and forget to remove the transfer tape. 3. They drive a Tesla.

Not bad for an urban sky. NGC 7000.

A deep-space photograph depicting a region of the Milky Way galaxy dominated by dark nebulae silhouetted against a luminous emission nebula. The composition features a striking contrast between bright reddish-pink hydrogen gas clouds and coal-black dust clouds that obscure background starlight. The dark nebulae form dramatic finger-like or tendril structures extending downward and rightward across the frame, creating an almost skeletal appearance. Thousands of stars of varying brightness punctuate the field, with the brightest appearing as distinct points of white and pale blue light. The emission nebula glows with characteristic hydrogen-alpha red wavelengths, indicating active star-forming regions. The lower portion of the image shows particularly dense dust concentrations, while the upper regions reveal more of the underlying star field. The overall effect is one of cosmic turbulence and stellar birth, captured with substantial detail and dynamic range. This type of celestial vista exemplifies the complex interplay between stellar radiation, interstellar dust, and gravitational processes within our galaxy.

My telescope is going outside to do some observing later tonight. I’m excited to take advantage of the warm weather and good visibility.

A detailed weather and astronomy forecast display for Tuesday, July 14, centered on 12:14 PM Pacific Time. The interface presents multiple data layers across a 24-hour timeline from approximately 11 AM to 3 AM the following day.

The top section displays cloud cover conditions as a horizontal bar chart, with darker blue indicating denser cloud coverage. Cloud opacity values are labeled throughout (ranging from kp 1.3 to kp 3.0), showing variable cloud conditions across the forecast period.

Below this lies a sunrise/sunset visualization. A yellow curve with a solid line represents the sun's position, peaking around 20:30 (8:30 PM) with the sun icon indicator. A dotted yellow line shows twilight duration. A white dashed horizontal line marks the horizon, with sunset timing indicated as 21:12 (9:12 PM).

The middle section displays wind direction using circular icons with directional indicators (north, south, east, west vectors), showing predominantly westerly to southwesterly winds throughout the day.

Temperature data appears in two lines: an orange curve showing high temperatures ranging from 77°F to 86°F, and a blue curve displaying low temperatures ranging from 52°F to 66°F. Temperature values are labeled at regular intervals across the timeline.

The left sidebar contains weather and astronomy icons: partly cloudy conditions, an obstruction/visibility icon, sun intensity indicator, sunset icon, wind indicator, temperature gauge, humidity/water droplet symbol, and an information icon.

The interface uses a dark gray background with blue, orange, and cyan accent colors for clarity and distinction between data types.
