kind of funny whenever a patron gets a "you are about to be billed for a lost book" notice email and they reply like "im so sorry, i've been busy this week." buddy, we dont bill for lost books until they've been overdue for over a month.

the software industry has not solved "cleanly copying and pasting text in a table from one program to another" after 40 years of productivity design and optimization. just thinking of other things that took more time and effort than cracking an atom in two

some of the best stuff is when the series is like "wouldnt it suck to find out you're a child of omelas"

020

normal sunfish activities @cloakatively.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

the bar is low enough that i do appreciate this series trying to be anti-racist in a modern context but it's just kinda. whatever. the throwaway bit there about how racism and ableism tend to go hand in hand is actually interesting+compelling but is also only a bit lol

110

normal sunfish activities @cloakatively.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

whether it's good writing on racism is a different question lol

yuru being raised in such primitive isolation that he hasnt internalized racism is. pretty funny.

hi all! my cat needs surgery soon so i’m asking for donations to cover miscellaneous costs that fall outside of her insurance. if you don’t want to donate for nothing in return (other than gratitude and cat pics) then i do have a gay fantasy novel you can buy…either way, every little bit helps! ❤️❤️❤️

Thinking about movies

Reddit comment: Really good movie. Moving scenes. Personally I see the Coyote as a
Randian hero, a self-reliant producer who is constantly fighting against a compromised system. The courts and the Government allow the monopoly to take place and collude with ACME. But the innovation and the personal journey of the Coyote and the lawyers successfully fight against the statist regime. The idea that he can wake up every day and try again and again is inspiring. He's not asking for any handouts. On the humanity level there is a price we don't see sometimes and the speech by Leghorn was terrifying too.

in which the more popular and widespread something is, the less it necessitates credit and context, even if whats popular is the isolated memetic image/joke/concept/etc., rather than the original media/art/context itself.

010

normal sunfish activities @cloakatively.bsky.social · 02/09/2026

yeah it's complicated. like a lot of ppl approach this from fandom culture contexts which is already very explicitly pro-derivative (not a bad thing, just inherent to the subculture) but the internet is also very geared towards decontextualization (memes) which combines to a kind of....viewpoint

floppy movie is a food way to describe it. the cartoons were all good and p fun but the human stuff was very Okay. prob doesnt help that most rly good courtroom/investigation conspiracy dramas are 2 hours.

I think you can nest this under a larger culture of not really thinking about where anything comes from or what went into getting it to you, whether it's food, clothing, or other goods. So much labor is made invisible and we are encouraged to consume and then discard so quickly.

it is funny that it is also a romance but the romance is like......VERY backseated, not bad but more of a vehicle for comedy or further consideration on characters' dreams vs. reality and building pragmatic bridges to make them meet, than like. a romance story lol
