Would be amazing if this comes to fruition! Would really help to take the wind out of the argument that “progressives can’t be good stewards to public money” and “progressives just want to spend money they don’t have”

🚈 Next stop: Pinehurst Station! September 30, we’re opening the doors to our newest Link station — and our very first infill station. We’re celebrating with the community on opening day! 🎉 Check our website for details as we get closer: www.soundtransit.org/pinehurst
A light rail train travels on an elevated track next to a highway. There's a new station under construction, and a sign above reads, "hello! Opening Sept 30. New station. New connections. New possibilities." Trees and clear skies are visible in the background.

Quite the statement from someone who chose to indefinitely postpone stations in ST3 rather than looking for new sources of funding…

Seattle’s popular Museum of Flight received a grant for a major green upgrade, and is adding a 3-acre solar array to its rooftop. These panels will reduce energy costs for the museum, and absorb enough sunlight to send some of that energy back to the grid.

Also, it’s crazy that it was the owners of Sweet Alchemy (+ Elixir) and Shultzy’s that organized the opposition and misled the other businesses One of them is an ice cream shop. Another is one of the closest businesses to UW. These both would likely benefit most from more pedestrians

Even before UDistrict Station existed, the VAST majority of customers to these places got there by bus, biking or walking. SDOT has done surveys… These business owners really don’t care to understand how customers get to their businesses!

In the end, the fact that he appears to not have actual values (clerked for both Kagan and Kavanaugh) and the financial contributors are reasons enough to be skeptical.

Clayton Sasaki @claytonsasaki.bsky.social · 18/05/2026
There are many legitimate concerns here, but I do think it is important to mention he also clerked for Elena Kagan and tempered (but didn’t retract) his support for Kavanaugh when the sexual assault allegations came to light.

Only 7% of the nearly 18,000 people who filled out this survey said that delaying or cancelling projects should be the first thing that Sound Transit considers to rebalance the ST3 plan. 74% ranked it dead last. Securing new state and federal funding was the #1 response.
Funding actions survey results as described. Text reads: "Securing new funding was the highest ranked priority among respondents.

A nice explanation of El Niños in general but specifically the implications of the upcoming forested super El Niño. Main Takeaway: a very rare El Niño (possibly the strongest in 140 years) in a warmer world could lead to dangerous implications particularly in a global, interconnected economy

It’s crazy to me that a change in the federal budget of $1.3 billion ($2.5 -> $1.2) might jeopardize a now $88 billion project How much of that decrease was slated for Sound Transit? Either way that’s a very small portion of the project’s funding

Curious what happens to the senate seat when Sen. Mullin (R-OK) becomes DHS secretary? The governor (currently Kevin Stitt) will appoint a temporary replacement to the seat. As it is after March 1, there will not be a special election. The election will take place at the next statewide election.
