All I saw was cheesecake boat and ocean for at least 5 minutes

Photo of a missing slice of cheesecake that looks like a cheesecake hull floating in a deep blue ocean. The "ocean" is actually the blueberry topping on the large cheesecake that we don't see completely.

I see FM 1-0 is off to a smashing start That is one of the dumbest quotes. The purpose of war is not to kill, the purpose of war is to get your adversary to do what you want, via battles and campaigns that involve killing The US Army can’t see the war for the battles. And we’re not warriors.

Chapter 1
A Warrior
The object of war is not to die for your country, but to make the other dumb bastard die for his.
General George Patton
In July 1944, a young dentist named Captain Ben Salomon landed on the island of Saipan. When the doctor for 2d Battalion, 105th Infantry was wounded by a mortar, Captain Salomon volunteered to take his place. After all, there was little dental work required in battle.
2nd Battalion pushed north through the island's muggy jungles. When they found Japanese fighters hidden in the network of limestone caves. they drove them out.

I cannot even say just how much Andor is a TV show for our time. And the amazing thing is that Keith’s point is not just one that is explicit in Andor, it’s also present subtly & implicitly in other notes in the show, exploring how those different forms of expression occur, and their toll.

Booksellers have faced censorship and harassment defending the freedom to read. Celebrate your local bookstore and support their ongoing role in safeguarding intellectual freedom. press.princeton.edu/ideas/bookst... #BookstoreDay

This essay traces the long and turbulent history of American booksellers who have faced censorship, harassment, and even violence for defending the freedom to read. Through vivid anecdotes and historical cases-from undercover stings in the early 1900s and legal battles over “obscene” literature, to FBI surveillance of Black bookstores and bomb threats against feminist and LGBTQ+ shops-the author illustrates how bookstores have repeatedly become battlegrounds in the fight for civil liberties and free expression. Despite intimidation from both government and private groups, booksellers have pushed back, shaping legal precedents and rallying communities to defend First Amendment rights. The essay ultimately calls on readers to recognize bookstores as “arsenals of democracy” and to support their ongoing role in safeguarding intellectual freedom.

Toxic masculinity isn’t a concern here, and we don’t view empathy as toxic. For centuries, adult males have huddled together, protecting the colony’s most vulnerable, giving their future a chance amidst the raging storms that threaten them.

Emperor penguin males huddled while sitting in eggs . We mainly have king penguins on Heard Island but emperors do visit sometimes they just don’t breed here

Local people in Annapolis are making books removed from the Naval Academy's library available to students. Here's what one of them, a retired Navy commander, said about it. Give him another medal for service to his country. www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/202...

The effort began when retired Navy commander William Marks, a 1996 Naval Academy graduate and former spokesperson for the Defense Intelligence Agency, launched a fundraiser April 5 to purchase the books for the students. Marks said he viewed the Navy’s decision to remove the books, which included fiction and nonfiction, as a first step toward cultivating a new generation of military leaders more loyal to individual political leaders than the U.S. Constitution.

“These are dedicated young men and women who we’re trusting, some within a few months, to go out and lead our Navy and lead the Marine Corps,” Marks said. “I think this is about suppressing knowledge, erasing history and limiting opportunities for education.”

A screenshot of a poem. The poem reads:
Choose your leaders
with wisdom and forethought.
To be led by a coward
is to be controlled
by all that the coward fears.
To be led by a fool
is to be led
by the opportunists who control the fool.
To be led by a thief
is to offer up your most precious treasures to be stolen.
To be led by a liar
is to ask to be told lies.
To be led by a tyrant
is to sell yourself and those you love into slavery.
