Increasingly clear that the thought process here is not that the museum is expensive to maintain, but that value can be gained by selling it off piecemeal. This alone should be reason for Mason to resign immediately.

PUMPED to be giving the tooth anatomy lecture today for the course I'm TAing! 🦷✨ hope these students are ready for some wild teeth in vert evolution, inc Helicoprion (ancient shark w tooth whorl!), Dorudon (basilosaurid whale w cuspy postcanines), and Edmontosaurus (hadrosaurid w dental battery)!
This illustration of Helicoprion, created by artist Ray Troll in 2012, depicts the head of a shark on the left side of the image, displaying a tooth whorl. The shark's head is dark grey at the top, fading to slate grey at the bottom, and the teeth are black. The eye of the shark is amber, and several gill slits are visible. On the right, white handwritten text reads, "HELICOPRION, heel-ih-coe-pry-on OR hell-ih-coe-pry-on, ~ means ~ "sprial saw"." The background is aloe green at the top, fading to a yellow-green at the bottom. This figure from Uhen (2004) depicts a black line illustration of the skull of Dorudon atrox, an ancient basilosaurid whale, in lateral right view, with the cranium disarticulated from the mandible. Many of the postcanine teeth in the upper and lower jaw have multiple cusps, unlike toothed whales today, which almost uniformly have simple, conical peg teeth. This figure from Erickson et al. (2012) depicts a dental battery from the hadrosaurid, Edmontosaurus. The left of the figure, with a black background, depicts a light pink line drawing of an Edmontosaurus skeleton (top left), a white illustration of an Edmonotosaurus lower jaw (middle left), and a color photo of part of the Edmontosaurus dental battery in the color of dark amber fading to citrine yellow at the bottom (bottom left). The right side of the image, which is relevant for the purposes of this post, depicts microsopic photos of the occlusal surface of a bison tooth and horse tooth alongside colorful labels showing features of these teeth (top right) and a photograph the teeth and part of the skull of Camptosaurus (bottom right).

Schools simply refused to do it, which became public knowledge in the early 2010s due to survivor activism. That survivor activism inspired the film The Hunting Ground and the Obama administration’s White House Task Force on Campus Sexual Assault.

Survivor activists have loudly been calling for their rapists’ expulsion from school since the 1980s. (For anyone keeping track, that’s about a decade after universities were required to gender integrate.)

Campus rape is really widespread; statistics suggest a significant percent of women who go to college will be raped there; feminism opened up a good conversation about it around 2012-13; it's weird when people treated Cornell like an isolated rather than dramatic example of a pervasive problem.

Oh. That's a heck of a subsidy.
At MIT, Harvard, or any other school, supervising an undergraduate researcher is a lot of work, costs a lot of money, involves a lot of meetings, and the results are not reliably excellent. Asking Claude is easier, faster, and may produce better results. It’s also cheaper, which is no accident: Harvard allows every Harvard student and faculty member to request a Claude token budget of $2,500 per month, even as research funding is continuously threatened and the University lays off staff.
