Sally Rooney's books to be withdrawn from sale in the UK
Faber has confirmed it will stop supplying Sally Rooney's books in the UK, saying it cannot pay the Irish author royalties because of her pledge to support the banned group Palestine Action.

What happens if some countries introduce a proper universal basic income to reflect the new reality of a world where almost all work is done by AI and robots, while other countries let their huge jobless populations scrabble on the breadline, go homeless or starve?

Well funding has flatlined and reduced (which I'm aware is not untrue for other areas) and the number of theatres, venues, and organisations going to the wall is growing. This alongside a difficult cost of living crisis for people means decimation.

The contrast between the utterly sycophantic coverage this week of Kemi Badenoch, whose party has a truly atrocious electoral record under her leadership, and the utterly dismissive coverage of the Greens, tells you everything you need to know about media bias in the UK

Why the Holborn and St Pancras By-Election Was a Good Result for the Green Party
The dismissive coverage of Zack Polanski’s party obscures a far bigger truth about the rise of the left in British politics

Ukraine immediately should put everything it can into destroying Russia's diesel industry, and thereby target two enemies at once.

Wow. Donald Trump is giving money to Putin’s war machine so he can keep killing innocent Ukrainians and attacking democracies across Europe. The UK must lead a coalition of the willing that stands up and says no.

This is completely outrageous and disgusting. This must immediately be blocked by Congress and Trump should be impeached for this. The US is now funding Putin’s war machine as he murders civilians including children. We are lost as a country.

Badenoch says IHT hits “ordinary middle class families” across the country (whereas I’m pretty sure that only 1 in 20 estates pay it) She has promised to exempt family homes from IHT

Not so much the fact that we had to queue, but there were a number of elements of the experience that were disappointing. Mainly around communication, customer service, and sensitivity to people who might want to inspect for longer. Also is it at an appropriate height for wheelchairs?

A common broadcaster technique sadly, they have their angle and they KEEP returning to it, because them getting a gotcha, is more important than the public hearing a proper debate where they might end up being properly informed.

They already have descended that far and further. Laura K exemplifies how far the BBC has fallen and the lack of interest in actually checking if it's raining. A bit of swearing would seem a perfectly legitimate response.

Suggest they ditch BBC1, BBC News Channel, BBC2, and all the 'extra' radio stations. Fully invest in original programming for Three, Four and children. Focus on 5 clearly defined (so probably altered) national radio stations and reinvest in truly local services.

I think it's absolutely mad that today there's a *national news story* about 400 oil platform workers losing their jobs, and the government being blamed. 25% of the UK TV industry lost their jobs in the last 4 years and we never hear a peep about it! Some jobs are 'real jobs' I guess.

Well the Bayeux Tapestry at the British Museum is appallingly badly managed in my opinion. Would recommend avoiding entirely or bring overnight camping gear. Not even in the exhibition hall yet, 45 minutes after slot time. Older people and people with babies flagging and giving up.

British exceptionalism has become fascism. The concept of truth in the age of 24 hour gossip and drama (aka news) channels has withered. Opinion of the left behind beats the facts of those who weren't. Money flows upward, charlatans and fascists win.
