This seems incredibly precarious but somehow Bhreacain is fine here.
A sleeping cat on two stacked tuffets. The top one is at a rakish angle, and the cat is significantly to the downslope side, with his butt hanging off the edge. Mysteriously he has not slid off.

Most of my favorite comics have a secondary joke / silly pun / out of universe response to the characters in their right click / long tap accessible alt text. Less pressure to conform to a standard posting format than a full bloggy caption with each upload, until you have more to say.

Reminded by FB of the handmade birthday card I drew in 2017 with a view of Ely cathedral from the upper floor of Toppings bookshop. #HandmadeCard #pencil #watercolour #drawing #ArtShare
A partly coloured drawing of bookshelves flanking a window, a circular table and two stools. On the table is a small vase of flowers and a pile of books. The tower of a cathedral can be seen through the window which is left uncoloured.

Granted there were other things making work and life more tiring than normal these two weeks and also I already knew this (it's been 14 months since I had a stream schedule after all) but the hard deadlines to meet made it clear it hasn't just been a lack of prioritized motivation.

Got to make invitations for a family celebration and 1) yay new skills and knowledge in inkscape, krita, and USPS postcard regulations but 2) this was my free time for two weeks and it's not that impressive looking. I'm kinda bummed about the evident inability to do new things after work in a day.

Nearly the end of the month and I've been meaning to share some of my silly comics on this page. So here's how I celebrated #Kaijune in 2020--contemplating what a humongous jumping spider really means when they're such itty bitty guys.
A darkened office with a crate and computer backlit by a large misty yellow glowing window. A military officer addresses a scientist.
Officer: Progress?
Scientist: Sir. We've successfully increased the subject's body mass by over five thousand percent.
Officer: That's promising. The military man taps on the glass.
Officer: How sure are we that this glass will hold it?
Scientist: Errrrr...
The scientist is crouched to open the pet-carrying crate that was sitting on the filing cabinet in the same room. There is a large arthropod leg visible in the shadows of the carrier.A fuzzy dark brown jumping spider with shiny green eyes and iridescent blue chelicerae (what I fondly call fang cozies) sits, filling the top of a tan cat tree in a green room, a feather toy hanging below it while a brown tabby paw with cream mitten coloring reaches up to bat at one of the spider's legs hanging over the edge. A voice from off screen is talking.
Scientist: ...well how was I to know he's an arachnophobe? Yeah, no, the new liaison is ready to go through with funding. But the scream haunts me.

I spun my First Three Rolags Ever™ into this not-quite-a-gradient stormy sunset skein! It's about 55 yards, chain-plied, and varies between 40 and 20 wpi outside extra textured bits. It's still unwashed and unknown colorfastness and I'm not sure what kind of project will get this semi-loud splash.
A dark red wood spindle wrapped in plied yarn, primarily pink with pops of teal and green.A dark red wood spindle next to a small skein of chain-plied yarn with sections of denim blue, teal, and cotton candy pink as well as bits of grass green.

The little single-hand-carder batt was the most familiar form factor (and my least favorite mix), so I spun it up in a familiar way to test out the new spindle and practice drafting with silk bits mixed in--they're just a little trickier than when my recycled yarn isn't fully carded. ~170yds 4-ply
A reddish wooden Russian style supported spindle with a metal tip, wrapped in a teal singles with many splashes of other vibrant colors and white.A reddish wooden spindle laid on a closed notebook next to a small skein of thin plied yarn, teal with many pieces of contrasting color including a tangle of lime green silk threads. The yarn skein is an open loop to show more of the varied areas.A reddish wooden spindle laid on a brown notebook next to a tiny, colorful skein of plied yarn, twisted and folded back on itself to be about one third the length of the spindle.

And here's proof that *I* was there, in the form of face and haul. My first purchased support spindle from Cardinal Woodwork, an art batt class from The Foldout Cat, and a beverage from Travelin' Tom's Coffee. Everything else was a volunteer or participation goodie, plus a tote not pictured. #hhff
A smiling woman with brown braided hair and a green floral short sleeved button up shirt, standing in front of a light green knit fabric covered rectangular arch with the sign Hoosier Hills Fiber Festival and many silk flowers and yarn-crafted butterflies attached.Collected on a wood table, several bundles of colorful wool in the background, the foreground filled with two approximately tapestry needle length 3D-printed screw-end containers and the 3D-printed parts for a Turkish style drop spindle, a lasercut woodburned volunteer badge, two-inch gauge swatch measuring tool, and twist stopper? (a disk with tapered curved slot from the edge toward its middle), a hot beverage cup from Travelin' Tom's Coffee Truck, a reddish wood Russian-style supported spindle, a set of three pastel sheep stitch markers, a card with a tube of Life Savers candy that says "Thank-You for being a real Life Saver", and a dog brush.Several bundles of colorful fiber on a wooden table; the front left is a tiny optically mixed puff of olive green, using blue green, yellow orange, and small bits of red; the rest of the fiber collectively looks mostly teal with some splashes of pink, yellow, green, and blue. Behind the puff is a small, loose batt, lightly rolled; across the front are three rolags with more emphasis on the teal and pink than the greens or golds, the first and third look much more firmly formed than the one between them. Behind those rolags are three with a matching gradient from the inside of their curls in golds to the outsides in blues, all approximately the same sturdiness of form. The front right corner is a cloud of nearly all blended teals cleaned off carding tools, and finally the back right is filled with one single large gradient batt from pinks and golds through greens to blues.

The most important #hhff photos first--the critters! As I said, I only took photos of the lambs yesterday; today, I heard their fellow icelandic sheep that I'd thought was an adult was only ten weeks old? If it is a teen, its constant search for snacks makes all the more sense.
A baby sheep with curly dark brown wool, eating grass while a hand reaches out to pet it. The lamb's body is about two hand-lengths long. Two equally small dark brown lambs eating grass and clover in the shade. The one in the background is investigating whether it likes the crunch of a dried leaf; the answer was no and it instead proceeded to methodically eat all the clover flowers one by one. The one in the foreground was focused on grass itself.A white with black patches icelandic sheep in a temporary pen, sniffing to see if any feed had bounced into the crook of a tree root. One of the sheep's horns is broken with purple salve treating it.A dark brown llama (my guess from ear shape) with shaggy bangs style, like an aloof emo band member.

See I put my gummy worms yesterday into a resealable container and they still only lasted a couple hours. (I'd feign concern I was suffering from some kind of gelatin deficiency but alas it's better explained by the adhd. At least they survived several months forgotten out of sight before that.)
