What look like lashes are modified feathers, not hairs, and researchers have proposed that they may help protect the eye from airborne particles during flight. Still hanging on to my 2019 phone that a) has a headphone jack and b) is small enough that I can type one-handed when needed. Ridiculous that it will be hard to find a new one that fits those two simple requirements these days, but maybe I can hold out till headphone jacks come back in style 🤞
