She really does an amazing job selling Edie's mixture of naivety and cynicism in a way that always makes her feel like a real person and not an avatar--unlike Brando, whose status as a hero-snitch plays less comfortably as a defence of Kazan's ratting to HUAC to save his own ass.

Because no one asked, here's my Top 5 Albums of 2025. 5. Lorde "Virgin"

5. Lorde “Virgin”
Lorde has been cursed with the fact that her second and best album both undersold and is the greatest pop album to be released this century, which has made its two follow ups seem like disappointments despite them both having moments as good or even better than the first album that made her a star. If anything, “Virgin”’s main issue is its brevity. At 35 minutes, it’s over too soon and too abruptly. But that’s a good problem. It’s better to make us want more than over stay your welcome. Like “Solar Power” before it, it takes a few listens to fully embrace, but once you understand what Ella is trying to do, you can’t help but love and admire how she does it (and the fact that she even exists in the first place).

8 years ago, I did a whole series of "Sad Grown-Up Kevin McCallister" tweets and no one else liked them but I still think they rank among the best things I've ever written.

Kevin McCallister looks at the picture of his penis he has just taken. He has no one to send it to and he's been banned from Twitter and most dating apps. So, he just enjoys it for himself.

Kevin McCallister sees that ANGELS WITH FILTHY SOULS is now on iTunes, but he doesn't rent or buy it. He just likes to scroll through the titles and remember back to a time when he didn't want to die.

ven though he has nowhere to go and no one to see, Kevin McCallister slaps a bracing aftershave onto his face.

He feels nothing.

He doesn't know if he can feel anything anymore.

Kevin McCallister dips his brush into the paint as he starts on the second coat. As he works, a dreamy faraway look appears in his eyes.
