Landmark Dublin project offering “significant” cycling connectivity expected to be submitted to planning board soon
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council expects to submit a planning application for the  8km DLR Connector to An Coimisiún Pleanála, the national planning board, in Q3/Q4 this year, council officials have told councillors. Cllr Eoin O'Driscoll (Fine Gael), who represents Stillorgan, said: "The DLR Connector will create a continuous cycling connection from Dundrum through to Dún Laoghaire. For Stillorgan, one of the key pieces is here on the Lower Kilmacud Road, where the existing cycle lane currently comes to an end outside Mount Anville Primary School.

It doesn't matter that Ireland only has miniscule fragments of native forests left, or that these are mostly in a dying state. When it comes to fixing that, everything takes forever and is piecemeal, if it even happens at all. It's always plenty of talk and written reports, but little or no action.

It's not the first Dutch-style roundabout in Ireland, but a roundabout on Templeville Road in Dublin is the first Dutch-like design to be retrofitted at an existing busy roundabout. The roundabout is adjacent to Templeogue College, where Templeville Road meets Wainsfort Road and Cypress Grove Road. As reported in 2023, Ireland's first Dutch-style roundabout was opened on Church Fields Link Road in Mulhuddart, Dublin 15.

Two-way cycling on Chapelizod Hill Road to be provided for in new plan
Dublin City Council plans to provide two-way cycling on Chapelizod Hill Road, linking Ballyfermot and Chapelizod and wider planned cycle routes in the area. The short section of route would help link part of the Liffey Valley to City Centre BusConnects Scheme, which is under construction, to existing and planned routes around Chapelizod. The project would include a two-way cycle path along the current short one-way section of the road, and a cycle path in the westbound direction along most of the road from the one-way section to Kylemore Road.
