Bet you didn't know hundreds of thousands of immigrants are forced to file FOIA requests with DHS every year just to get access to documents they need to maintain/apply for legal status.

I’ll take illegible abbreviations and ridiculous typos and spelling errors (which, trust me, drive me nuts) over AI notes every damned time. More practices are using digital scribes too. I haven’t tested these scribes but I’ve seen my text messages. I have to believe they are a disaster.

"An AI agent went rogue" also feels like a test drive for an era when no one is responsible for the worst things these products do. Seems like a standard that could be really convenient for certain governments.

The international chess Federation banned trans women from playing women's chess. CHESS. It's not about fairness. The fairness argument is intended to radicalize people into more violent forms of transphobia.

Y'all know my theory. I think this is about these products hitting a wall in terms of their actual utility or advancement, and these fuckers being able to say, "It's an intentional slowdown to protect humanity, and our work is essential to all humans and should be bailed out/subsidized."

My spouse is solidly a meat and potatoes sort of guy. Me? Less so. With this context, I am proud to announce that, despite much anxiety, I was not only trusted with picking out the steaks for tomorrows dinner, but have gotten a stamp of approval! (he is usually tasked with this but is out biking)

September 10th is globally significant as World Suicide Prevention Day, an annual observance organized by the International Association for Suicide Prevention and endorsed by the WHO to promote global awareness and action to prevent suicide. Reach out, listen, and seek help 😔
An infographic banner for World Suicide Prevention Day, which is observed on September 10.
The banner features a dark, star-filled space background. In the upper half, a highly detailed image of the planet Earth is displayed, showing continents like Africa and South America amidst swirling white clouds. Layered partially over the right side of the Earth is a large, glossy yellow awareness ribbon.
The text on the graphic is styled in clean, white sans-serif fonts of varying sizes:
At the top, the date "SEPTEMBER 10" is written in a smaller font size.
Directly below it, the main title "WORLD SUICIDE PREVENTION DAY" is prominently displayed in large, bold, capitalized letters.
Beneath the title, a sub-headline reads: "Think you know someone who is struggling? Let them know they're not alone."
At the bottom left, a numbered list outlines three actionable steps:REACH OUT
LISTEN
SEEK HELP

Probably the most incredible story in 16 century American history you’ve never heard of. A Powhatan man named Paquiquineo kidnapped as a youth in the Chesapeake region was taken to Spain, only to find his way back a decade later and lead his people in killing nearly all the settlers. Good thread!

A fucked up centaur thing with tentacles and a beard pries open your door slaps its feet into your house slams you to the floor holds you down looks around the room wide eyes swiveling separately finds a pen uncaps it brings it down to your shoulder presses too hard this is when you scream you can feel a trickle of blood.
	And then it’s over.
All the centaur’s eyes look at you. From those eyes down to what passes for its torso, it’s all teeth and esophaguses. The torso is long lines of muscular tissue merging and branching out again: vertices, lines, and just air in between.
The centaur stares at you a tentacle slaps your face another one presses your skin where the pen was, and the pain is a lot. You try wriggling away and the centaur lets you and you curl up into a ball and you assess the damage. On your shoulder the word “ACCEPT” has been written in precise, crisp lines that have been smudged by seeping blood.
Your boyfriend is screaming and then there’s a loud wet crunch and he has stopped screaming.
You look up. The centaur’s long neck is wrapped around your boyfriend’s body and it’s gnawing on his body and blood is leaking out of his body. You consider saying something and then you remember the word on your shoulder so you just watch.
The centaur finishes off everything above the neck line moves one of its gross feet over you and you have an overwhelming sense that a question has been asked that requires a yes/no answer.

My #FungalFriends are flourishing! My spouse called it when he said “it’s a field of dreams for you” Sometimes I wonder what my neighbors think on days like today when I gasp audibly, hand off the dog, and rush off to visit my friends.
It’s a field of dreams!
Many many mushrooms that have just sprouted up in a front yard Two clusters of mushrooms in grass, in various stages of flattening. 20ish fungal friends frolicking in the front yard.Several mushrooms from the field of dreams featuring cute little button divots at the center of their crowns. Singular mushroom from yesterday (different yard, same neighborhood) looking like a gear sticking up from the ground.

I hope in my heart of hearts that this is about William Beaumont. Was he even in Canada? Or was it northern Midwest of the US? Does the dress of his time even make sense to be this photo? No clue. Refusing to find out because Anticipation is joyful.

Right. Like, MAHA isn’t a push for equitable access to care. It’s eugenics under the guise of “healthy living.” There’s plenty of somewhat normalizing woo and almond mom and ~natural~ in the mix, but that’s just noise. The signal is the strongest survive, and no regard for the lessers who don’t.
