A lot of folks here are cheering about this, but it is not much to cheer about. In an ideal world, a strong and sane opposition is necessary for a functional democracy. I fear that this move will produce neither of those results. Khan quits as Tory leader www.winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews...

Just helping with editing here. These bots aren’t sentient. They’re doing what they’re programmed to do. OpenAI, a private company supposedly bound by laws, committed federal crimes.

This is incredibly sad. Most people would probably stop to see if someone is ok if they were bleeding on the street. Would they do the same for those experiencing homelessness in mental distress? Survey says no. Normalizing the problem doesn’t make it better. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

After years of seeing this beautiful Isaiah mural at church, I can finally make out what it reads: לֹא יִשָּׂא גוֹי אֶל גוֹי חֶרֶב וְלֹא יִלְמְדוּ עוֹד מִלְחָמָה Lo yissa goy el goy cherev, v'lo yilmedu od milchamah Isaiah 2:4: “Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.”

The port of Churchill is starting to sound more and more like Wab Kinew’s monorail from the Simpsons. No one is donating $79B to upgrade a port for LNG shipping only part of the year. They might spend $3B just to have a presence there for sovereignty reasons.

Wab’s Churchill plans vs the beluga whale population. I hope that anyone that thinks that the Manitoba NDP cares at all about the environment has changed their mind over the last few years. It’s all fake. They are the embodiment of capitalist liberalism.

What We Need is Here, W. Berry Geese appear high over us, pass, and the sky closes. Abandon, as in love or sleep, holds them to their way, clear in the ancient faith: what we need is here. And we pray, not for new earth or heaven, but to be quiet in heart, and in eye, clear. What we need is here.

This illustrates why I don’t like combining Saskatchewan and Manitoba into the same polling bin by certain folks. There is a 31% difference in this poll, for example, about Poilievre comparing Sask and MB. They are different places with different demographics.

Valour Road may seem like a regular street in Winnipeg, but it has a very interesting history thanks to three men. Leo Clark, Frederick William Hall and Robert Shankland all lived there, and all three earned the Victoria Cross. This is the story. 📸 Wikicommons 🧵 1/6

Imagine what Winnipeg would look like with more sustainable transport. After being at the cottage for a few days, I noticed my newly diagnosed asthma acted up almost as soon as I arrived back in Winnipeg. The health benefits from less cars are tangible.
