John there’s a whole universe of solo board games and maybe the most common type is where you move lil guys around on a grid and get really stressed about it

Hereditary (2018) Yeah I just didn't really get this one. Started with great tension with family drama and seeing how fucked up everyone had been and was becoming. Maybe there were too many layers of metaphor for me or something, but the back half felt like it went completely off the rails tonally.

Obsession (2025) Welp. That's going down as probably the most disturbing movie I've ever seen.

It got hot enough that I was able to break out the shorts again and try a new thing with my top :3

Return to Silent Hill (2026) Somehow manages to neither do SH2 justice nor be its own thing. An onslaught of "hey remember this from the game? ;)" without honoring the substance of any of it. Very awkwardly tried to show multiple endings. Visually was... okay? Watch Silent Hill (2006) instead.

Also, as someone for who "Letter from the lost days" from SH3 holds a lot of meaning and personal significance... what the fuck is it doing in this movie?

I used to think Vespertine was “pretty good”, but listening like this opened it up so much more. It’s so intimate & gentle. Small carpeted room, on vinyl where I can’t tell the natural cracks & pops from the beats, was near perfect. Only a snowy day, hot chocolate, big blanket could improve it.

It’s so easy and kind of habitual to engage with things only on a surface level, in passing. I can overlook really great stuff when I don’t give my honest and open attention. Not everything reciprocates in equal measure, but when something does it’s incredible.

Recent vinyl acquisitions! I’ve spent the afternoon completely indulging and immersing myself in Vespertine, listening intimately on nice speakers, reading along with the lyrics, phone out of sight, feeling everything. Idk man björk just speaks to me on the deepest level.

Vinyls for “Abyss” by Chelsea Wolfe, and “Vespertine” by Björk

woah they make demilked coffee thats wild

huh idk what's going on for me then. also yeah the visuals and my general fondness for freaky forest shit were enough to push me past the rest of it that i felt was kinda bad. i totally get if someone can't make that jump

Gretel & Hansel (2020) On one hand, the writing and acting was often kinda bad, and I really didn't vibe with some soundtrack direction. On the other hand, it was so visually stunning that I was enraptured the whole way through, and I came away loving and feeling inspired by it despite it all.

Gotta watch your back at all times these days 😞 The first time I majorly threw out my back was because I sneezed while bent over. I always straighten up whenever I feel a sneeze coming on now because that SUUUUUUUCKED
