New Month - Summer 2026 the hottest since records began in the UK in 1884. I spoke about some of the health implications, global early weather warning systems and air conditioning and other cooling policy, we need to make sure the most vulnerable people have access.

Letter @thetimes.com from me based upon @willvowell.bsky.social and @eciu.net research in response to an editorial that was sceptical of mitigating fossil fuel emissions to tackle climate change. I also added about heat-related deaths, a pet peeve is when they are compared to cold!

To clarify the influence of heat on maternal health focuses mostly on the baby. There's not much UK research published for either group at all. But globally a 2023 study by former colleagues found we don't even appear to know how breast milk changes during heat.
