"hard times make strong men" actually statistical error. Most hard times make starved peasants, who lack the capacity for successful use of force. Swiss Cantons Georg, who lives in a fortress and practices with a pike formation, is an outlier and should not have been counted.

When colonization came to call in the US, many folks wrote about america as a pristine Eden whose forest were filled with delights and bounty. This was because indigenous folk (Like mine) built up food forest. Things that were razed and destroyed as a part of racist violence. Colonization is ongoing

Fuck ChatGPT flyers. The future is broadsheets.
A crowded broadsheet with way too many fonts. It says:
Forget ChatGPT Flyers
Say it with
Broadsheets
Unlimited fonts
Stretch them
Or cram a really long sentence into one line for no good reason
No whitespace
Mix capital and lowercase
Pointing hands
(They're called manicules!)
Don't be left behind
Broadsheets are the future

Vaccines work. It is not hyperbole to say that this particular vaccine — the HPV vaccine — is a medical miracle. It has, in several countries, eliminated cervical cancer among people vaccinated. That is amazing.

If you're wondering why authors are getting so rabid here: First Anthropic stole our books. Then we got denied compensation because of US unjust copyright law and publishers failing to meet their contractual obligations. Then publishers and agents apparently claimed author shares. Now this.

❝ By avoiding a critique and embracing compassion, charity is fundamentally a system of the heart. And a society that relies on charity to solve its problems will find itself in a perpetual argument between head and heart. ⋯ By contrast, a justice-focused worldview does critique the system. ❞

And now, seeing posts on TikTok and Reddit is making the literacy crisis much more apparent to me. The ubiquity of AI only exacerbates the problem: people skim over a Claude summary, don't understand half of what they read, and can't imagine other people have actual experience with these topics

The annoying conflation of the occult with conspiracism makes all of that even worse. I've dealt with many people who postured as experts in the occult who were just spouting Satanic Panic or Qanon rhetoric.

Chirotus Infinitum @chirotus.bsky.social · 30/08/2026
I've always been very cautious in taking on students in the occult, since so much work has to be done initially to counter cultural misconceptions, bad history and scholarship, and Christian frameworks

Maybe I'm not that creative, but the only freezer spells I've done were just a person's name on a slip of paper put in water and frozen. I used a dedicated ice cube tray. They worked fine.
