Kid asked if we could build a phone so I ordered a dev kit and lcd then we're going to scavange the rest of the parts from a Gameboy and ds lite then use a USB numpad with it.

Two things can be true. Don't auto follow empty accounts with feeds that maybe aren't working but auto following a platform account that has the feeds (see @bsky.app ) is a standard thing that your comment in the image alludes to not being the case.

Its not one though, bluesky does the same by you following bsky.app when creating an account and other platforms likely do a similar thing. I do agree it's a bit weird to make it the feed generation account with no posts

I delivered pizza after high school in my home town which had a huge university, I took my familiarity with the neighborhoods and within a couple weeks could navigate multiple addresses after looking at a map of the town, just keep it all in my head for the time it took to deliver everything.

Can definitely be done. Stratos as much as I don't like saying it behaves like a pds and blob support was finally implemented around May, it just meant all records created didn't have a blob ref. If you don't want to do your own pds just have the blob endpoints return 404 or an empty valid response

I think one of the most valuable things that bsky can do for the atmosphere is leverage its position as the only app with a large audience and heavily promote "high quality" ATProto apps in-app. The live indicator and profile buttons are cool, but it's really limited and discovery is spontaneous.
