I asked my maths prof grandfather, a tech early-adopter his whole life, for his take on the AI in maths stuff. He said: maybe it can provide answers, but only humans can ask *new kinds of questions*, and that’s what drives the field forward, the questions not the answers.

My favourite from today's crop of illustrators' portfolios. Should come as no surprise to anyone that it's a feast of gorgeous objects.

William gets to live my dream! I'm not jealous. Really. I'm not. At all. Could not possibly be any happier for him. Can't think of a more deserving artist. Now, if some generous benefactor would sponsor airfare I'd gladly go and show my full support at the opening www.namuseum.gr/en/new/willi...

Muse Terpsichore dropped in for a quick studio visit today to check on the progress of the sculpture I'm making of her. She said it's shaping up to be the BEST thing I've EVER made.

Exactly. Glossing over the strangeness of antiquity to render it familiar, makes the idea of significant social or cultural difference seem 'unnatural'. Viktor Shklovsky coined the term ostran(n)enie (“making strange”) to describe a process of calculated de-familiarization or cognitive estrangement

Terpsichore finally rocked up to her design consultation, having presumably come directly from an old-school rave, and decided that THIS is how she wants her new outfit to look. 😬 There is every possibility that she may still change her mind. 🤞 *No. This is not me getting my excuses in early. 🙄
VERY ambitious plans for a new iteration of the Muse Terpsichore. I have no idea how this thing will stand up, given that the weight of that solid metal horse's bit is going to be held up by the spindly tines of two old rusted egg-beaters

Just watched as a Heron caught and ate a copper-coloured snake across the road from my house. Three thoughts: 1). Why did I forget to recharge my camera's batteries? 2). Sooo cool that live in a place where you can see something like that. 3). THERE ARE HUGE SNAKES JUST ACROSS THE ROAD FROM ME!

"Hesiod says that he and Homer [were stitching a song] ... Nagy has explicated the metaphor underlying rhapsōidia as follows: Many various fabrics of song, each one already made ... become remade into a unity, a single new continuous fabric, by being sewn together". (Richard. P. Martin 2020, 192)

Advice for young artists: if you have any sense of self-preservation do not allow your practice to develop into making strange sculptures based on exceedingly obscure ideas that will only appeal to a handful of very very special people, because very very special people are very very hard to find.
