It’s very representative of how the X saga just devolved into revolution via contagion, something I really hate, and the twist being that this isn’t the case for ONCE (even though it was also the case in X1) is a slap in the face to me. Only one part of why X8 has the worst mainline Mega Man story.

Mega Man X8’s Lumine twist While it’s novel for an X game to not have Sigma as the big bad for once, the twist of new gen Reploids being able to go maverick at will, to me, spits in the face of the fact that Reploids DID have free will since the start of the X saga.

I do feel like that would be the case for a lot of the smaller enemies but starting with MM&B it seems he strictly tends to reprogram robot master lines rather than build them himself which he had a strict budget for in Megamix.
