Apple "detectives" wanted to identify a gnarly old tree growing on a remote plot of land in Maine. What they discovered was the key to a centuries-old apple mystery.

I don't know why the 2011 Mediocrity came to mind recently, but I would unironically drive this car. Subaru's ad campaign for a bland, beige sedan was intended to be a parody, but you know what? I bet this thing is reliable as hell, and there's nothing to break. mattelhardt.com/clients/figh...
An unremarkable mid-size beige sedan, as basic and bland as you can possibly imagine. The word "MEDIOCRITY" is shown above it.A side view of a beige sedan. Utterly unremarkable. The dash of a poorly-appointed sedan from 2011. But there are real buttons galore! Not a touch screen to be found. The radio has a CD player (ooo la la!), the HVAC is as uncomplicated as can be, and what's that? Why, it's a digital clock! I haven't seen one of those in years! The center console of a mid-size sedan is shown. Nothing fancy here.

I love the idea of Kagi as a search engine, but I can't help but feel that paid search would be less expensive if they didn't bundle genAI into all of the plans. I just need search.

I grew up in Brazoria County, Texas, where Buc-ee’s began its life. I watched it grow from a chain of small, clean convenience stores to the litigious monstrosity it is today. It’s sad to see the decline in its culture. My family won’t be stopping at Buc-ee’s on our road trips any longer.

A friendly cat would absolutely draw me to an axe murderer’s house.
A screenshot of a Google Maps listing for the Villisca Axe Murderer House. It has a blurb at the bottom, presumably automatically generated, that reads “know before you go: look for the friendly resident cat named Church roaming the property.”

There's live music, a drone show, Kids Pedal Pull, Miss Belton, 90+ vendors, food trucks, and a Beer Garden...all right on Main Street. And this year, keep your eyes on the sky: the drone formations carry a little extra meaning for a milestone year in American history. There's too much happening to list it all. A picture of a library shelf with a small rolled up note on it. The note says “read this” in child’s handwriting.A picture of the note unrolled. In the same child’s handwriting it reads “beware of the future!!”
