I live in the same city as him, and he set up a fake grocery store a few miles from Downtown in, like, an extremely impoverished area of town. The set advertised itself on the outside as a real grocery in a community of people whose lives would likely be improved by simply having a closer grocery.

I think this is true to some extend, but also i think the medium IN THE PRESENT hesvily prioritizes targeting to nostalgia, you must always continue with the successful IPs, people love them retro refferences and what not
