I feel like everyone I know loved those two books too, so I should probably retry them. Maybe I just had the wrong teacher for them. VicLit is a favorite of mine too! I remember reading "Vanity Fair" at camp and I desperately wanted the dresses and the gossip over the bugs and the arts & crafts.

I've been considering doing the same! I'm wondering if any books I loathed in school, like "The Great Gatsby" and "Ethan Frome", will fare any better now that the rose-colored glasses of youth are gone. Are there any books from your early years that you think may be better with age?

Cornell was my dream school back in the day. Part of why I ended up not going was the professor who was the draw was fired for inappropriate relations with an undergrad. ABSOLUTELY WILD how the moral rot has seemed to have taken hold in the last decade at every insular university.

I hate that I can't tell if the symptoms I'm currently experiencing are: -the flu -enterovirus -migraine leftovers -salmonella from jalapeños -food poisoning from a recalled food I haven't heard about -general food poisoning OR -this new wave of COVID This must be part of the spa package for HELL.

I just drove my mom to the airport and she grabbed at the steering wheel while I was going 6 miles UNDER the speed limit (because I was "going too fast"). I told her if she did that again she loses front seat privileges. I swear, 5 and 75 are secretly the same age. #parenting

She did the ad while posing nude with sports equipment. Per union rules, she would have had to agree with every creative step of the process because of said nudity. She is therefore complicit in the continued misogyny and sexualization of women in sports seen in the ad.

It's personal preference! Our house does raw, which I think is better with sharper cheeses in general. I don't think we ever do just pickled onions; maybe on cheese toasties on very rare occasions? If we're adding pickled anything, it tends to be piccalilli.

We LOVED it. It was the last game of the night and picked purely on cuteness. So there was a bit of a raucous panic during the teach because it was heavier and drier than first thought, but everyone, ESPECIALLY our most casual player, really enjoyed it. Market manipulation is more fun with wizards.

I'm sorry. I realize I did the thing where I go outside of your options. I have found rice cookers to be better with short pastas like penne, and IP better with spaghetti types. If you get a steamer basket, rice cookers can do everything the IP does, they are cheap to replace, and WAY easier to use.

If you have the ability to get one, an electric kettle would be great. You can put the pasta in when the water is cold, and it will be cooked once it boils (an Alton Brown method I've used for ages). Kettle+rice cooker costs less than an instant pot usually, and personally I find IP scary to use.
