This week’s “Here for the History” is disappointingly what happens when you go out to prove a national superiority myth. Just a lot of positive correlation and conjecture about England, and negative stereotypes about Southern Europe in general. Who is defining “work” and “efficiency”? Real miss.

I feel like attempting to use my credit card to buy food in the Middle East is a pretty sloppy fraud attempt. Probably some kid hacked a place that had it, or somehow it ended up on the dark web. I get texts for every charge so even less sloppy attempts would fail, but still humorously sloppy.

Finished Season 2 of the live action Avatar: TLA. While I appreciate that they hit all the main bits, I feel like it’s missing a lot of the emotional journey. It’s okay. Uncle Iroh and Zuko are by far the best characters and actors with the best growth. Even better than the anime, imo.

The podcasters insisting that clubs will get compensation from Man City are deluding themselves. It’s too nebulous to show that a team like Spurs would have done better than MC without the cheating. It’s circumspect and not provable.

Watched Pressure. It was… fine? Yeah. Fine. They were trying really hard to make weather forecasting dramatic. I thought the story was interesting, the acting was mostly good and the few parts that didn’t work for me seemed to be direction. But the attempts at drama fell a little flat.

Watched The Village for movie night. Still like it a lot. The cinematography, the acting, some of the very moving dialogue. Wish folks had given it a chance instead of obsessing over the twist. The simplicity of the shot with Ivy in the door holding out her hand, and it starts to shake, moves me. 🤷‍♂️

Catching up on Trek Culture. Really disagree with Sean. That Mount and Peck do such good jobs with alternate characters doesn’t mean we should have more alternate characters for them. It means the writers should give them (and the others) better things to do with their main characters.

Called Verizon to talk about replacing our 4 paid off phones. Was on the line with them for over an hour. Their offer was pay $650 today and then increase my monthly bill by $250. I don’t see how that makes any sense. Considering switching to AT&T. Any Utah locals have any experience with them?

Watched New England Revs get beat last night. It was fun to be with friends and see the team in person. The 3-0 result flattered RSL, but it’s fine. We just weren’t clicking. Probably just too many players out and too many playing new positions.

While I found Wimbledon conceding the tie at the end disappointing, it was well deserved by Cambridge. I continue to be impressed by Stockley and Bursik. Both were excellent signings. I think Bursik even surpasses Goodman, and I had been super impressed with Goodman at the time.

SNW “Tomorrow's Enterprise" was good enough that I’ll mark the season as surprisingly 50/50 for episodes I liked. I feel like the lows of this season were really bad. But I also feel like everyone will have different episodes they liked. “Off-Hour” was the high point for me.

Welp, now I feel totally scammed by and lied to by Ken Garff Ford. And have a scuffed up charge port door for my troubles as they said it was pre-painted and didn’t warn me to not wash the car. Obviously I’m going to wash it as that was the complaint. New door still opens in car washes. Really poor.

GI messaged me. They suggested I do a bunch of things I’ve already done, increase a medication that I’ve already increased, and then offered me a test that isn’t related to acid reflux but is about swallowing. Basically just left me with the impression that they didn’t even bother to read my chart.
