A computer simulation found #ApoB-guided intensification of lipid-lowering therapy provides the most QALYs and is highly cost-effective compared to #LDL-C or #nonHDL-C targets. ja.ma/4cxfzKX
Line graph titled 'Cost-Effectiveness of text@1, Non-HDL-C, and LDL-C Goals for Primary Prevention Lipid-Lowering Therapy'. The graph shows cost-effectiveness acceptability curve with 'Optimal probability strategy, %' on the Y-axis and 'Cost-effectiveness threshold (2025 $/QALY gained)' on the X-axis. Lines represent ApoB goal, Non-HDL-C goal, and LDL-C goal.

The biggest issue in NYC for the last few years, BY FAR, has been cost of living, and the candidate who won focuses his entire campaign messaging on that issue.

Proposed cuts to foreign aid could result in millions of HIV deaths and soaring rates of global HIV infections, new modelling study in The Lancet HIV estimates. Explore the data 👉 tinyurl.com/5hud9dxm #MedSky
Figure showing projected effect of HIV programme funding cuts in 26 countries from 2000 to 2050, on HIV-related deaths. Anticipated 24% cuts capture the range of effects given by the proportional cuts and reallocated prevention budget to treatment scenarios (scenarios 2 and 3), while PEPFAR discontinued captures the range of effects with
and without mitigation (scenarios 4 and 5). The dashed black lines show a continuation of historical 8·3% year-on-year reductions in new HIV infections and 10·3% year-on-year reductions in HIV-related deaths from 2024 levels. DOGE recommends cuts to the FAA. Hundreds of workers get fired, including those tasked with producing air traffic navigation maps. Now Starlink is reportedly in line to take over a $2 billion contract to upgrade the nation's air traffic control systems. See how this works?

RFK Jr. thinks that a clinical trial should be done for the entire childhood vaccine schedule. Here’s why that will never happen. 1. You can’t do a randomized trial of something that we already know is safe and effective. There would have to be a placebo group that didn’t get vaxxed. Unethical.

It is perfectly legal to know your rights and to educate others about them, too. EVERYONE in the United States, citizen or not, has rights. I will not allow this administration to intimidate us from helping you know about them. Here’s our shareable guide ⬇️: (pt. 1/2)
KNOW YOUR
RIGHTS
IN CASE OF ICE:
CONOCE TUS DERECHOS
EN CASO DE ENCUENTRO CON ICE:DO NOT OPEN YOUR DOOR.
ICE cannot enter your home without a warrant signed by a judge.
Tell the agents to show you the warrant by sliding it under the door.
NO ABRAS TU PUERTA.
ICE no puede entrar a tu casa sin una orden firmada por un juez. Diles a los agentes que te muestren la orden deslizándola debajo de la puerta.ASK THEM
TO LEAVE.
If ICE doesn't have a warrant, tell them you do not consent for them to enter your home and ask them to leave. At work, ICE cannot enter employee-only areas without permission.
2
You have the right to remain silent.
If the agents ask you questions, tell them,
"I wish to remain silent."
PERMANECE EN SILENCIO.
Tienes derecho a permanecer en silencio.
Si los agentes te hacen preguntas, diles:
"Deseo permanecer en silencio".

Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania has indirect rate of 70%, but they probably didn’t want to list that atop Harvard because defunding a children’s hospital might be perceived as problematic. This is devastating

Executive wants to frame the NIH indirects cut as $4B in savings. But given that NIH returns $2.5 on every $1 investment, this would actually cost US economy a net $6 BILLION (per year!). Not to mention the human costs of wrecking education and research sectors and the communities they serve.

We've created a tracker that covers all executive orders affecting LGBTQ folks along with federal and state legislation. We're at 334 anti-LGBTQ bills. docs.google.com/spreadsheets... Credit @alli.gay @erininthemorning.com @evanurquhart.bsky.social @miralazine.bsky.social @lizsaila.bsky.social
A screenshot of a multi‐column table listing several U.S. presidential Executive Orders relating to LGBTQ+ rights and antidiscrimination policies. Each row has columns for “Origin” (POTUS), “Number/Identifier” (e.g., EO 13988), “Title” (such as Preventing and Combating Discrimination…), “Action Type” (e.g., Broad Nondiscrimination, Military Nondiscrimination), “Summary” (key points of each order), and “Date Signed.” The listed orders span from early 2021 through early 2025, covering topics like preventing discrimination based on gender identity or sexual orientation, banning conversion therapy, rescinding prior harmful EOs, and restricting or expanding DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) initiatives.A spreadsheet at the top shows columns tracking anti‐LGBTQ bills by status and year: total bills (334), 2025 bills (327), 2024 rollovers (7), how many passed committees (3), passed one chamber (5), passed both chambers (0), enacted (1), vetoed (0), failed (3), and carried forward (0). Below that, another header row lists different types of anti‐LGBTQ legislation (e.g., gender‐affirming care bans, pronoun bans, “Don’t Say Gay,” drag bans, bathroom bans) with the total count of each category (e.g., 55 for gender‐affirming care bans, 20 for pronoun bans, 14 for “Don’t Say Gay,” etc.). A color‐coded U.S. map spans the lower half, with states shaded from light orange to deep red according to how many anti‐LGBTQ bills they contain. Texas appears in the darkest red (46 bills), with lighter shades indicating fewer bills in other states. A note at the bottom right explains that the map shows total tracked bills per state, which does not necessarily reflect each bill’s likelihood of passage.

The assault on NIH is a test for how the national media covers the Trump admin: Trump is shutting down medical research! That is easy to communicate. Will they treat it as a 5 alarm fire in a way that forces the government to respond, or will they downplay & caveat it?

Population-health impact of new drugs recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence in England during 2000–20: a retrospective analysis
During 2000–20, NHS coverage of new drugs displaced more population health than it generated. Our results highlight the inherent trade-offs between individuals who directly benefit from new drugs and those who forgo health due to the reallocation of resources towards new drugs.
