Our day began at 6am: a tedious series of chores to decommission our boat before sliding eight bags and suitcases across a narrow gangplank from our neighbour's boat onto a floating jetty, then carrying them two at a time to the marina office, 300 metres away, to await a cab to the airport.

In the 1940s, Dale Nichols lived in a cabin in Moose Pass in Alaska, and this picture 'Amidst the Glaciers,' most likely depicts a lake in that region. Depicting the beauty of the mountains and blue lakes of Alaska, this is a striking example of Nichols's geometric realism.
