The latest CBI Industrial Trends Survey found that total manufacturing order books improved in September. Total order books were reported as below normal to the smallest extent since July 2023.

The Bank of England’s MPC voted 6-3 to leave Bank Rate unchanged at 3.75%. The majority judged a hold was appropriate because the restrictive policy stance and tight financial conditions are providing “insurance” against upside inflationary risks from the Middle East conflict.
