It was through an extra curricular writing program, not through my school. I was a writing & language nerd and was incrediblylucky to take a bunch of writing classes for youth, down at Skidmore 🧐 I think it was probably also part of the 80s emphasis on SAT prep.

I don't think it's comparable. The AGU posters are already overcrowded, it's often hard to even move through the crowds to view posters or talk to the presenters. And now those folks will have 1/2 the space both for content & conversations. At a certain point it just won't worth it.

I didn't realize chipmunks had such a limited range in California! Explains a lot. It did stand out to me while camping recently that I saw chipmunks rather than golden mantled ground squirrels.

I can handle cult management, if that position is still open, so you can focus on pottery! That region is beautiful. Eons ago I got to stay on a tiny privately owned island with a tiny cabin, and it was stunning. The g-maps main 360 image for the lake is just such a northern winter thing 😆

It’s been interesting to watch that spot erode over the last 20 years. I have king tides photos of that spot going back 10-15 yrs ago when I was doing a high tides photo project around the bay for a few years. l should dig those out. I don't think I've done comparisons of photos over the years.
