Aside from the occasional 100-degree day and severe storms, the *other* days this summer have been really tolerable up here. Jesse and I just took a walk to a new coffee shop and it was a pleasant little stroll. You take what you can get, these days!

This is the text from the original Tumblr post:

The Dwarfs are very clearly inspired mainly from Old Norse, so that's the main reference for Gimli's dress. There's also some other influences, like some Bronze Age Mediterranean influences and Iron Age Eastern Europe.

To me Tolkien's elves are very high Middle Ages and Gothic, but for Sindar I mixed in plenty of Celtic and especially Irish influence, and based Legolas' dress heavily on Irish léine.

Boromir's dress I based on mostly Byzantine but also some Medieval Arabic influences as I did for Faramir.

Yes, exactly! AI is so freaking insidious in so many different ways. I've had friends who are fantastic artists accused of using AI. . .because AI cribbed their style. I know that's a slightly different case than what's going on here but it all stems from AI making it harder to trust what we see.

There's a Kandinsky piece, Small Worlds V, that I have always adored. We recently rearranged our living room to bring the record player downstairs and add some more bookshelves, and I *needed* that print on the wall and couldn't find one, so I just. . .sort of whipped up my own. Sorry, Kandinsky.

We had a gorgeous day yesterday, so Jesse and I took a walk to our local coffee shop, which is inside the train station, and grab some lunch. We ate outside and I drew a picture of him there that does justice neither to him nor the concept of perspective, but I like it. It’s quirky! #urbansketch
