“In London cyclists now outnumber cars in the City by 2 to 1. Paris, where they now outnumber motorists across the whole city, is catching up with Europe’s traditional bike capitals, Amsterdam & Copenhagen…In Copenhagen, bikes account for almost half of commuter trips to work/school.” @economist.com

Country Thunder made a business decision. It cannot blame City noise rules that it said, two days ago, would not affect their event.

"regulatory certainty is the bedrock of private investment" is an incredible statement from the premier who personally wrote and added a separation referendum referendum to the other 9 referendums this fall

No single option is the best for all people, at all times. Sometimes I bike. Sometimes I take the train or bus. Sometimes I drive. There's no thriving city of two million people that succeeds with only one way of getting around. Calgarians need to be able to choose what works best for their family.

The City of Ottawa posted the raw speed data from before and after Doug Ford banned speed cameras and the effect is so obvious it's not even necessary put a line marking when that happened. This chart shows the percentage of drivers going 15km/h or more over the posted limit.

So the city has completely "closed" the crossings on Jasper because the people in charge are fucking assholes. Both sides of the intersections are blocked from 118st-120st. Comical levels of incompetence from the city's supposed transportation experts. #yeg

I got out to blade the snow today; the sidewalks were pretty easy, but the bike lanes were a bit tough in places. Might have worked with a e-fat-bike? However, it turns out when it's too deep for me, the city's out there anyway! Go city!

A toddler is dead in Calgary because we allow these jacked up SUVs with very minimal forward visibility. The drivers of these can’t see people in the crosswalk. When will these be banned? #Calgary

103 cyclists suffered major injuries in crashes with cars in the last year on record in Alberta. 5 died. In 73 of those collisions, the driver made an "improper action" vs. 30 who were "driving properly." 🔗: open.alberta.ca/dataset/2502... Anyway, here's the RCMP reminding cyclists to stay safe:
Strathcona County RCMP remind cyclists of bike safety

Strathcona County, Alta. – As warmer weather approaches, Strathcona County RCMP are reminding cyclists of the importance of wearing a helmet and bicycle safety in an effort to prevent injuries and keep everyone safe.

Whether you’re cycling for fun, as a commuter or with your family, it is important to know the rules of the road. To ensure a safe and enjoyable summer, Strathcona County RCMP are encouraging everyone to follow some safety tips:

Wear a helmet. Cyclist under 18 years of age must wear a helmet. Adults are strongly recommended to wear a helmet.
Bicycles must be equipped with a horn or bell, a brake, and if operated at night, a white headlight, a red taillight and a red rear reflector.
Stay on designated bike trails when possible and check trail conditions ahead of time.
Secure your bicycle with a high-quality lock, remove valuables from your bike and take them with you.
Keep records of your bike’s make, model, serial number, photo and any unique features to assist with recovery if stolen.
