#yqrcc needs to stop suggesting hiring freezes and kicking projects down the road (expecting funding for lead pipes to be cut back). What about taxing #PoorLandUse that lets speculators hold lots undeveloped long term? Quit favouring big business (Brandt) and always pushing homeowners for more $$!

Curious if this will lead to Regina clearing encampments? We always seem to be in such competition with Saskatoon. I don't think this accomplishes anything. It puts the problem out of sight for a few days until the homeless find another space. It's a cycle, not a solution. #yqrcc

#CarCulture in #yqr for sure! Even #yqrcc seems afraid of transportation choice! They just keep focusing on more parking lots, more roads and more sprawl. It's unsustainable, esp with #autobesity making everything bigger.

This is definitely happening in #yqr. We are a #CarCulture city and it's unaffordable. Sprawl, parking lots and #PoorLandUse policies are driving property tax up because we want to put cars and trucks first!

So true: "Once our eyes are opened to all the ways we’ve prioritized cars over people, we can’t unsee it." Since I sold my car the way I see the world has changed. Cars everywhere. Fossil fuel burners (most of them, still), noise, smell, p-space they take, the priority they get at traffic lights. 🤓

Bike/pedestrian networks don't take 30 years to build. Stop accepting those timelines in your community. The best practices have been proven & they already exist. Safety should already be the #1 priority. The ROI is unbeatable. The timeline is a moral document and it shouldn't be generational.

Funny, but not really, I was just posting about this. We had a bike fatality in #yqr in the last 7 days and that was one of 8 vehicle pedestrian/cyclist accidents. #CarCulture is a problem.

Okay, so if we’re talking about the #WaronWalking (great framing), the sidewalk deserves way more attention. A lack of connective sidewalk infrastructure, tree canopies, seating, public restrooms, lighting, pedestrian oriented wayfinding, and street-level retail & cultural hubs are major factors.
