I’m sorry that I never really got a chance to talk to you. I remember seeing you walking around at VCFSW, and seeing you there made me feel I could be more myself there. I have projects I restated because something you did inspired me to try again. You’ve been such an inspiration to me, thank you.🩷

Mine had a bad fuse in a different spot, presumably because the lead acid battery failed and the system popped the fuse trying to charge it. I’ve only ever seen it happen on lead acid battery powered devices, and typically only laptops (notably the Tandy 2800 HD)

Up until his death, Ozzy Osbourne’s goal was to ascend a stage one last time and thrill his fans. When the subject of retirement came up in a 2020 Rolling Stone interview, Osbourne huffed. “Retire from what?” he said. “It’s not a job...." 🖤

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a SCSI SSD! (I didn’t even know they made them, it makes sense but I’ve only seen early IDE ones.) How big is it, and how old, if you know?

I got a Macintosh IIx at VCF SW, and restoring it is going pretty well! I saw two people open it, wince, and put it back down at the free table, so I figured it would be a fun repair :) I’ll likely have to do some trace repairs, but I want a IIx enough that that doesn’t phase me :)

A very dirty and rusty Macintosh IIx with its two internal batteries cut from the board, but lying there near the ROM slot. The board is visibly corroded and had mild to moderate trace damage.

The Macintosh IIx motherboard, pulled from the case and cleaned. All of the capacitors are removed, as well as the CPU and FPU, and the trace damage is easier to examine now, with the majority of it being near where the batteries were, and by the CPU and FPU. The RAM slots and NuBus slots seem healthy.

If it’s a Warner disc, you can email them for a new one or a similar replacement, the email address is in here: www.avclub.com/warner-bros-... If it isn’t, it depends on the company, you can try emailing them as well, but it may be less effective.

Are they all Warner Bros. DVDs or are there more discs failing? I have a Disney DVD that seemed to be a bit off but I’m not sure if it was a fluke. Also, if you don’t mind me asking, how are you testing DVDs? Do you just play them and they stutter or is there a specific tool you’re using? Thanks!

ok I feel completely insane asking this but like weren't we NOT blowing up rockets, like, 50 years ago. weren't we successfully sending rockets up that did not rattle apart. also weren't we like "ah yeah that was a fail" when the rocket fell apart instead of calling it a "partial success"

They’re not as good as some of my other photos of this area since these are from my phone and not my DSLR, but I have some photos of neon signs I’ve come across a few times :)

Large 1940s/50s neon sign that says Campus

1940s era red neon sign that says Fine Arts, oriented in a way that it can also spell Fine Farts if you have the humor of a 10 year old. A sign behind it says Dix, but it technically isn’t readable in this picture.
