“Zionism is racism” is not a policy but a slogan. It compresses a complex history, going back millennia, and a very wide set of beliefs into one narrow meaning. The answer to genocide is not discrimination. We don't fight racism with racism. I’m gutted to see this motion adopted by the Green Party.

The "Zionism is racism" motion, to be debated at the Green Party conference tomorrow, will not advance the Palestinian cause one inch. But, if adopted, it would marginalise and discredit the party. There are powerful ways to confront the genocide. Toxic gesture politics isn't one of them.

Just totally fed up/broken hearted at the appallingly feeble efforts to help #ME patients over decades. Research, care, education. We are nowhere. 💔

"This is the opposite of how science ought to work." George Monbiot on those pushing "false and dangerous" cures for #MECFS, "entrenched" in their beliefs and doubling down rather than admit the "great harm" to the lives of thousands of people.

We #ME patients have been an inconvenience for decades. With relief both governments and health insurers handed us over to the Psychiatrists and they continue to remain as the bottom line for most healthcare providers.

Thanks again George. In your opinion would a public enquiry be the best way to stop the decades long bottleneck in any ME progress? People need to be held accountable for the purposeful damage caused to millions of us but would this move things forward fast enough? 33 yrs in bed is enough here!

Which of the four avenues you mention would be the quickest, most thorough and potentially bring the fastest change in your opinion? People do need to be held accountable but they are incredibly slippery!

What I desperately needed to hear when I was diagnosed with #ME was 1. It’s real 2. It’s not your fault It would have been wonderful to also know that there was a free National Care Programme in place that understood the needs of a #pwME. People refuse to accept they could get ill at any time.

Can’t pensioners, like me, understand that it’s very likely that they will need decent social care in the future? Families, however kind, often can’t offer the care needed in later life or during illness or have to give up their jobs, the new national care service is financially and morally sound.

#pwME this from our health secretary YvetteCooper. Dr Weir later made a statement saying if people recover they normally do so in the first year. Anyway I guess she’s tired of all ME stuff 😡https://www.independent.co.uk/incoming/tired-of-all-this-miserable-me-stuff-5597991.html

Tired of all this miserable ME stuff
The cynics call it yuppie flu, the long-term sufferers peddle doom and gloom. But you can have chronic fatigue syndrome and recover to see it as a normal illness

A lot of what we need wouldn’t cost anything. If it was mandatory for GCPs to do the learning module already existing on MECFS it would be a step in the right direction. It’s attitude that needs changing followed by effective treatment then we can all get back to work.

1/ People keep saying AI is inevitable. History disagrees. Plenty of technologies were called unstoppable, and societies stopped them or shrank them down to a niche. A thread 🧵
evitable
adjective
uk /ˈev.ɪ.tə.bəl/ us /ˈev.ə.t̬ə.bəl/

able to be avoided or prevented:
He believes that world war is evitable.
Inevitable suffering due to persecution is to be distinguished from evitable sickness.

With not one #ME specialist in the U.K. to represent the nearly 400,000 ME patients, Martha’s Rule simply highlights the gross neglect of us all. Where are we to turn? Many NHS trusts, despite NICE guidelines, still turn to psychiatry as a first step. Criminal negligence?

The Royal Colleges are still bending the knee to a certain psychiatrist who seems to control the destiny of #ME patients in an iron fist. Researchers can research ad infinitum but nothing will trickle down to patients care or treatment until this log jam is removed.

I think the Royal College’s position is crucial in this. They are mainly responsible for the lack of education on the ground and in med schools. Someone we all know is still pulling the strings from above. GET/GE are being used but called by other names now and the NHS website is still downplaying
