The knock comes late, long after he's locked up the clinic for the night. He's sprawled out on his unmade bed, watching rain spatter and slide down the little round attic window, half-listening to the murmur of the television, tuned to the news or a sitcom or something, something with people periodically laughing, then gasping, then clapping. Could have been anything.

The noise competes with the buzz in his head, with the warning pings about memory and data storage and processing power; the last of which currently hovers dangerously at around thirty-five percent. Not the lowest he's ever been, but still pretty good. He's blurry at the edges, sluggish and overheated, his thoughts crawling like a worm through mud. Just as he prefers.

As a consequence, the knock slips through the sieve of his mind. He's almost convinced himself it was a trick, some old echo playing back, when the knock comes again, followed by a plaintive, "Cheats? Are you there?"

My table last Sunday ! I was at my first summer creators market, and it went well ! I did another one in the winter with the same asso, so far so good !

picture shows my artist alley table, in a sunny day outside at Place Saint Pierre, Toulouse France (where I live). The table is covered in a black tablecloth with an illustrated banner, and a bright pink top cloth. I made in black pvc pipes a tabletop four legged structure, that looks like a little vending booth with a striped, pink and white awning at the top. A bright pink decorative paper lantern is hanging on the left of the structure. From there are hanging my big prints, also creating the illusion of curtains. The whole thing is light pink and black, and I think I did a really good job. This took me months to plan, design, build and setup. I made it so that it’s light and compact when transported, but can still look personal and impressive once set up. The entire thing, including displays and stocks, can fit in just two suitcases, so it’s very transportable as well 😌
