I attended NY Climate Week w/ @standupforscience.net. I have some THOUGHTS. 1/ Climate change is an existential threat. Addressing it means confronting unequal harms, powerful political & financial interests, & an uncomfortable reality: good intentions do not necessarily produce adequate action.

Knowledge is NOT politically neutral. The scientific method is a tool for deriving knowledge. So why then, are we telling the arbiters of the scientific method and developers of knowledge to be politically neutral? Are scientists supposed to forsake knowledge for politics sake?

Sorry, but all the way back on February 13th, 2025 we passed the point where 52 REPUBLICAN Senators had some explaining to do for confirming a known anti-science, anti-vaccine conspiracy theorist as HHS Secretary. Part of the reason is exactly this: a lot of the media pretended like it was NBD.

Welp, there it is. The CDC is now officially manipulating data and their count of measles deaths in 2026 now stands at ZERO. My understanding of reportable diseases is that the CDC would usually use a state health department’s determination as the final say. The new CDC Director is failing us.

Their repeated figures overlap with swirling streaks of trees, light, and pavement, creating a bright sense of movement and motion. High-key multiple-exposure photograph of an outdoor pedestrian area. Layered walkways, trees, signs, people, and structural beams overlap and partially dissolve into large areas of white, creating a ghostly, Saturated multiple-exposure photograph of performers and people gathered in an outdoor plaza. Repeated figures in white clothing overlap with brick architecture, trees, pavement, and bright green and turquoise tones, creating a layered, dreamlike scene.
