Watched NORMAL on HBOMAX. Loved it. For the first little bit, it seems like it's going to be one kind of movie, and I would have been okay with that kind of movie. Then it took a turn I wasn't expecting, and from that point forward, it's non-stop, brutal mayhem. Might just have to own my own copy.

Doubt I could do that legally as it would mean writing more in King's world outside the approved context of that anthology. But I *have* given some thought to *maybe* writing my own apocalyptic story in which there might be characters who could be interpreted as stand-ins for Corey and his dog.

The air quality is so bad here with the wildfires that we're being told not to be outdoors for more than a few minutes without a mask. It's definitely choking me, giving me a pulsing headache, and it's hard to breathe. We have 2 air filter fans going in the house to tamp it down.

It’s worth noting that Taco Bell identified the source before the FDA did, and promptly pulled it from their stores. The FDA didn’t even name the source until Taylor Farms outed themselves, and hasn’t issued a recall. Basically, Taco Bell is now a more reliable authority than the FDA.

100 pages in, Jordan Harper's A VIOLENT MASTERPIECE is living up to the hype so far. Crackles with energy and outrage and loaded with vibrant characters. Reads a little like James Ellroy updated for the modern age, with all sorts of thinly veiled jabs at real-life scoundrels like Max Landis.

This is pretty well known, but the Australian flag Sam Neill wore on his uniform in Event Horizon was designed at his request to show the Union Jack replaced with the Aboriginal flag, because he hoped in the future this is how it would actually look. A proper fucken ally in every way, this bloke.
