Genuinely crazy to me that my surgeon just… rerouted my intestines to a hole in my stomach. Every time I change my stoma bag, I’m like “hey intestines, so weird that you’re here.” I still have cancer but I’ve got the best team in the whole world. Feeling lucky might sound weird, but I do. 💓

My surgery went well! My stoma is “textbook perfect” according to my home care nurse. Since that went well, my body must experience a new horror, I guess? Tonight’s events: severe, painful bladder spasms bc my catheter is irritating everything. Might have to head to the ER. Again. I’m so tired.

The good news: my tumor seems to be shrinking (aka treatment is working) The bad(?) news: I’m getting a colostomy in a few weeks to help my body heal (as the tumor shrinks, it’s leaving wounds that aren’t healing)… I’ll have it for at least six months. Lots of emotions about all of it.
