Kinzinger: “That’s the thing about the words that come from the presidential podium. They aren’t like the words the rest of us say. They carry the weight of the office, and the people who hold it have always understood that.” 💯

Maybe the athletic directors (ADs) need to get a backbone if they truly like the coach for the long term. Problem solved.

LOL. Well said. Few remember that the Dodgers could’ve easily lost Game 7 last year. Yankees: no titles since 2009. Mets: no titles since 1986. Probably not good either that Stan Kroenke now owns Angels? Owners are greedy IMO. Rule changes over last 6 years are awesome too! Queue sad music….

IMO someone can start out as part of the cynical disinformation machine and eventually morph into something far worse. “Mush brains” effectively.

I believe this with absolute conviction for three specific public figures. They are: Rudy Giuliani, Samuel Alito (SCOTUS), Senator Edward Kennedy of Louisiana. Can I prove it with 100% certainty? Obviously no. I started believing it for Kennedy during ICE hearings last year. Tuberville is another.

Conspiracists and some normies said that Pope John Paul II was at risk of getting assassinated by the Soviet Union’s clandestine apparatus (due to Poland stance). Does anyone honestly think that Pope Leo will be strong-armed by US techies ? Wild times.

Another good take by @brianbeutler.bsky.social...it reminds me of the importance of reading and understanding Hofstadter's Anti-intellectualism in American Life, which starts from the decline of McCarthyism... www.offmessage.net/p/republican...

A better wording if my original point is: “Many are **susceptible** to the same corrosive disinformation bubble that plagues the avg MAGA voter. “

Brian F Campbell @brianfcampbell2.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
Yep. It’ll probably take a decade (or longer) to truly defeat what MAGA has unleashed. Fox News remains a powerful enabler of the corrosive MAGA mindset and it remains an ever present Trump/MAGA apologist.

We disagree. I’m not saying they are “victims” per se but I think Senator Kennedy of Louisiana, Alito, and Rudy Giuliani (back in 2020) are “fried”, ie “high on their own supply”. Someone can start out as part of the cynical disinformation machine and morph into something far worse IMO. Mush brains.

That same conviction applies to Justice Alito. He’s fried. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I mentioned this in another thread: I believe with absolute conviction that many GOP members of Congress aren’t simply cynical, partisan liars. Many are victims of the same corrosive disinformation bubble that plagues the avg MAGA voter. This incident reinforces my conviction.

What a joke. We are governed by performative morons. It provides zero confidence that AI in the military will be executed well. Hegseth is too busy yapping his gums and firing people (in order to mask his profound incompetence and insecurity). Good times. 🙁

These ads go in the same category as brazen, easily disproven lies after ICE killings. It’s not about persuasion. It’s a display of power. They could have passed them off as PAC-funded. They added “paid for by the U.S. government” because they want us to know they can break the law with impunity.

When the “censorship industrial complex” myth was just getting started, in Fall 2022, I got a public records request from the AG’s office of Missouri looking for all my emails related to my team’s election rumor research. The Missouri AG at that time? Eric Schmitt. What a tool.

💯 Prioritization of “What do we work on this week, month, year ?” is very HUMAN. As you said, “conflict mediator” is a big part of “work” because “What do we work on ?” is highly emotional (and often political) and not a sequence of “if/then” computer logic.

Also, I have personally concluded that many GOP members of Congress aren’t simply cynical, partisan liars. Many are victims of the same corrosive disinformation bubble that plagues the avg MAGA voter. I especially think this with Senator Kennedy from Louisiana. It’s not just a “southern drawl” bit.

Six NBA games on Feb 3, 2024 according to Google Gemini. It’s very unlikely to only have one NBA game on any day during the season.

Brian F Campbell @brianfcampbell2.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
I sensed(?) the start time of the game may have played into their very flawed logic. There were multiple NBA games that day but only the Atlanta Hawks game started at the time in the text messages. If they were thorough they would have simply subpoenaed the logs of the US Marshals protecting Smith.

💯 This sloppiness today simultaneously shows that MAGA voters fundamentally lack critical thinking, and that the GOP members of the Senate Judiciary committee know they have NOTHING of substance on Jack Smith. They’re just pleasing “Dear Leader” and continuing to rewrite history wrt #Jan6th.

Brian F Campbell @brianfcampbell2.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Plus Trump’s “deep state” boogeyman TV ad in the last few days may have been part of the overall playbook leading into today’s Judiciary hearing. Trump is clearly calling the shots. GOP has nothing at this point but conspiracies. Sad and pathetic.

Brian F Campbell @brianfcampbell2.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Some good insights below. Even doing this second Jack Smith hearing ~6 weeks before the election seems RISKY and it signals that Trump still calls the shots. The entire GOP has no spine and/or they are too deep into Trump’s Kool-Aid to think straight anymore. Pathetic.

Brian F Campbell @brianfcampbell2.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
💯 Federal Marshals must keep exhaustive logs that can be easily subpoenaed by the Judiciary Committee? Unbelievable.

Aaron is not underrating this. It's cinema. The sly smirk when Schmitt thinks he's gotten Smith to perjure himself. The hasty vanishing of the sign. Klobuchar getting Kennedy to hold it up. Schmitt getting LOUD and ANGRY when Klobuchar points out he mixed up the Hawks and Hawkeyes.

It wouldn’t surprise if Murdoch gets rid of Hannity in the next 1-2 years (more of a gut feeling than anything). Hannity is so blatantly a Trump shill with no shame at this point.

Alex Karp is something to behold. Does he simply relish some form of World War III that is AI-centered and the US wins? I just saw Karp’s usual condescending and angry rant with Eamon Javers of CNBC in front of the White House; before AI leaders’ lunch with POTUS. #palantir

Interesting take. I am flummoxed on the entire panic of smartphone and gambling “addiction”. Addiction certainly exists, but I think most people “figure things out” eventually so that it doesn’t consume their lives. Blow $40 on Lottery scatchers or lose $40 on an NFL spread ? Seems the same to me.

And this delusion is why Trump was not properly impeached and removed from office in 2025. The GOP will continue to gaslight us for years after Trump is gone because these ignorant voters are always easy marks. And bank this: Iran will be viewed as SOLELY a Dem screw-up by these voters circa 2030.

The GOP is something ….. smdh. Might as well do KFC and McDonald’s too ? 😂. A folksy “slumming it” DC tour ? Both KFC and McDonald’s are well regarded in China’s larger cities (As I recall; it’s been 20 years though.)

GOP are cowards. I hope voters in Kansas see through this. It was abundantly clear by mid 2025 as to the moral imperative to stop this ICE thuggery and unlawful detentions. And by Jan. 2026 in MPLS it became an absolute abomination with full-on fascist lies (“terrorists” said Vance, Noem, Miller).

Kirk Herbstreit is not dumb. I commend the ESPN Gameday attendees in Austin being loud enough in their boos of Cruz so that in his limited personal time Herbstreit may educate himself more fully on the GOP’s danger to our Democracy. Newsflash: huge chunks of the USA are ignorant of the GOP’s threat.

My guess is that people lose objectivity on “the numbers” because of frustrations with the fairly loud criticism by Hedge Funders, etc of Biden while being quiet regarding Trump’s corruption and policy buffoonery. Trump is bad for long term (5-10 years) peace and prosperity worldwide IMO.

In that same vein denial of climate change is right up there as an equally fraught risk to our existence, but I guess warnings from hundreds of research scientists over literally decades in academia doesn’t have the street cred of one former Anthropic employee?
