A paper in Nature suggests a quarter of heatwave events from 2000-23 would have been near impossible without anthropogenic climate change. The paper also indicates that major carbon emitters are responsible for around 50% of the increase in intensity of these events. ⚒️ 🧪

Reality check by Kardos et al: while purely genomic analyses of genetic load promise to improve our understanding of the composition of the genetic load, they are currently of little use for evaluating population viability. We need it combined with good demographic and ecological data 👇
