Published today alongside Kew's State of the World's Plants & Fungi report, 'Harnessing the benefits of specimen digitisation', explores how digitised specimens are changing how we study plants and fungi. Antonelli, et al. introduce the Collection: nph.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...
Geographical origins of the plants and fungi of the digitised specimens used in the contributions to this Collection (a); and the locations of the herbaria and fungaria in which the physical specimens are stored (b).

Postdoctoral position in conservation genomics and experimental evolution at Hologenomics Section, Globe Institute
The Hologenomics Section, Globe Institute, University at Copenhagen, is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher to join our team. This position is part of the research project “Back from the Brink: experimental de-extinction in a model-organism to restore lost diversity”, funded under the Villum Experiment Programme. The project explores the potential of gene editing technologies for conservation using an experimental setting, the risks and consequences for the management of genetically vulnerable populations. Duration: one year.

3/ An extinction debt also occurs when gene flow in a metapopulation drops below 1 MPG. This doesn't reflect a deviation from mutation-drift equilibrium, but from migration-drift equilibrium in the metapop. A drop in gene flow reduces the realized inbreeding Ne of the subpopulation.

2/ if allelic richness is smaller than expected from the observed He there is a pending extinction debt The same principle applies to Tajima's D (haplotypes) or the Site Frequency Spectrum (SNPs).
