If you don't have a special Ancient Rotary Telephone with a direct line to the ineffable powers to make minor adjustments to sporting contests, why would anyone become Pope? The rest of it is just admin!

The sudden influx of twitter style ragebaiting and racist accounts on here is a real concern. Most big news stories now have at least some variants of: outright racist, ragebaiting right winger, "just asking questions" guy, etc. Have to stamp this shit out.

I didn't love the second one but I'm glad they're getting another chance to make a Smile movie

Thinking about it, I reckon our town foxes - which are pretty small - would not want a piece of that action. Cats are vicious and do not give a shit, they will cause serious damage, and they're not that much smaller than town foxes, who don't have the same speed or agility either.

RIP to John Blanche, the best to ever do it. Before Warhammer was even Warhammer he understood what it was: weird, gross, unsettling, maximalist.

PERSON 2: Oh, a copyright thing? PERSON 1: No, they don’t allow tool-assisted speedruns.

My lukewarm take is that the irritating quippy main character in his books is just him, everyone he likes sounds like him, and everyone he dislikes sounds like a parody of his teachers. He is a child. Still enjoy the books, but sheesh.

Surely if everyone shoves at something from all sides they just end up shoving against each other and cancelling each other out You need to have everyone shoving from one side for this to make sense Do these people get cars moving again by having people push from the front and the back

I was going to post Elisabeth Moss talking about how “Fred Armisen’s greatest impression is that of a normal person” but when I looked it up to get the wording right I learned AI has somehow turned it from being a scathing post divorce condemnation to being a really nice complement
"One of the greatest things I heard someone say about him is, 'He's so great at doing impersonations. But the greatest impersonation he does is that of a normal person," the 29-year-old actress admitted to The New York Post's Page Six magazine recently. "To me, that sums it up."
"I've never told anyone that," Moss revealed. "And I don't want to waste any more of my life talking about it." According to Moss, the pair no longer speak.Al Overview
FmP
Fred Armisen's "greatest impression" isn't a specific celebrity, but rather the insight from his ex-wife, Elisabeth Moss (actress from Mad Men & The Handmaid's Tale), who famously said: "One of the greatest things I heard someone say about him is, 'He's so great at doing impersonations.
But the greatest impersonation he does is that of a normal person.'". This highlights his ability to convincingly play subtle, everyday characters, which became a hallmark of his comedy on Saturday Night Live and Portlandia. ®
• The Quote: Moss's quote from a 2012 interview with Page Six Magazine became famous, revealing a deeper appreciation for his talent beyond celebrity impressions.
• Meaning: It points to his skill in creating relatable, eccentric, yet mundane characters, making his "normal" ones feel like an act.
• Impact: This observation perfectly describes his comedic style, which often involved deep dives into niche personalities and awkward interactions, as seen in shows like Portlandia.

What the hell is this? A government agency coming out with this nonsense? I guess no surprise they've got ex OpenAI & DeepMind people on board but this reads like an AI grift industry press release to make @edzitron.com go thermonuclear www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

PSA for anyone getting a printer like this that has ink reservoirs: you have to use it frequently otherwise things go bad pretty quickly and it's extremely hard to get them working properly again

@gralefrit.bsky.social You have to see these! A friend of mine has been collating a series of images entitled "Things my students have written turned into Philomena Cunk quotes" and they're just glorious.
Philomena Cunk against a collection of classical statues. "Antigone's death is even more tragic than it actually is, which makes her a tragic hero"Philomena Cunk looking thoughtful. "Goya continued to paint tapestries until 1792 when serious illness left him dead for life"Philomena Cunk looking thoughtfully into the distance. "Society is slowly becoming more contemporary now"Philomena Cunk looking into camera on a beach. "Diderot's Tahiti represents a typical male fantasy in which attractive young women are eager to engage in sexual activity with the French"

yeah sure is 𝙬𝙚𝙞𝙧𝙙 how every spineless parasite you know was able to concoct some bullshit rationalisation for why it's okay to acquiesce to the marketing apparatus right around payday, and then project their position onto their audience so as to smother their own guilt. aint that just 𝙠𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙮
