If you, like me, are the parent of a neuro-atypical child dreading this autism press conference, please remember: These are the people hurting our kids. Not us. They are the ones stigmatizing and pathologizing them. They are the ones peddling untested science. And we should be very, very angry.

California quails are sooo cute. I don't even care that they're not native. I love em.

Bike ridership on the Galloping Goose Trail completely blew past previous April records this year! Good weather surely helps, but this April surpassed even peak summer numbers experienced less than a decade ago. data.eco-counter.com/public2/?id=...
Bar chart from Eco Counter that counts monthly cyclists counted at the Galloping Goose Trail's cycling counter. There is a general trend of increased cycling since 2015. July of 2016, the highest monthly cycling in the first two years of counting, is highlighted as having 71,809 monthly riders. This is contrasted with April 2025, which has 74,857 riders.

The National Park Service has removed "T" and all mention of transgender people from the Stonewall National Monument. Trans women were some of the most influential activists behind the Stonewall movement and what followed. 3 articles of clothing laws were why raids happened. Erasure.

Before the 1960s, almost everything about living openly as a lesbian, gay, bisexual (LGB) person was illegal. The Stonewall Uprising on June 28, 1969 is a milestone in the quest for LGB civil rights and provided momentum for a movement.

Progress photos at the St. George Rainway #Vancouver
Sign with text: Our plants are taking root!
You may have noticed some rainfall running down St George Street during storm events. The top layer of asphalt has not been placed on the road yet.
This means less water flowing into the Rainway while young plants are taking root. Allowing roots to establish will make the Rainway more resilient in heavy rainfalls and improve its ability to treat polluted rainwater runoff.
Paving is forecasted for Spring 2025.

Spot the differences: 2024 Victoria cycling map vs. all routes currently under construction or planned for 2025 and 2026 budget cycles. Big focus on new protected bike lanes on arterial and collector streets. There's a lot to look forward to!
Map of Victoria BC cycling routes, colour-coded to indicate AAA protected bike lanes and multi-use pathways, AAA shared-use streets, painted bike lanes, and one shared bus/bike lane on Douglas Street. The map shows okay connectivity in some areas, but still heavily reliant on painted bike lanes. This is the same map of Victoria BC's bike routes but with protected bike lanes added on Gorge Road, Tolmie Ave, upper Cook Street, much of Bay and Blanshard Streets, Pandora Ave East of Cook, Shelbourne and Begbie Streets, Oak Bay Avenue, Yates Street east of Vancouver Street and some other smaller upgrades and connections.

Ok, I have seen posts about it but didn't realize it's actually a setting where you can make it so you can't post photos w/o alt text. In case anyone else was also confused on this or doesn't know how, it's under settings-accessiblity and then you just click a box that says require alt text.
