Lighting money on fire to raise his national profile rather than spending it on the actual race he's running on. Absolute cuck move.

Can someone smarter than me let me know why Ken Paxton's camapign is running ads on a national broadcast? Wouldn't that money be better spent on local ads in sympathetic parts of Texas? Seems like he's lighting money on fire.

General reminder that @gavinnewsom.bsky.social is the Democrat we should all be avoiding. He's basically a Republican who has a good social media team.

The bigger issue to me is that these are the same assholes who scream about parental rights. What about my right as a parent to respect my kid's identity? Why does that never come into play?

Another reminder that the Roberts Court has less legitimacy than the Reinquist Court that did an *actual* suspension of the Constitution.

I wonder, because I'm just old enough to remember going to a full-service gas station with my parents, if this resistance to self-checkout is how consumers felt about pumping their own gas. Or if there would have been the kind of Big Loud Resistance if social media had been a thing 35 years ago.

You'd at least have a constituency. Who besides Democratic Party consultants has either a) a positive view of Rahm, or b) any idea who he is? I get the cases for AOC, Ossoff, Pete, JB, etc. What argument can Emanuel possibly make that vaults him above them + Harris and maybe Newsom?

I swear to God I think this is an industry psyop. I am middle-aged, too, but I have a reasonable knowledge of new music and an 11yo who knows the pop landscape better than me. I've never heard this song, and she has never even heard *of* it.

This is commonplace now, but it should be no less shocking. You'd have a better hit rate if you completely guessed on every question on a multiple choice test. Zero hits? None? Not one? You have to be just the dumbest of the dumbest to be THIS bad at your job.

Amazing. The clowns at @nytimes.com think a man who rapes children could make an A-OK president, and that enabling his delusions makes for good politics, but a woman representative having aides feed her pet is A BRIDGE TOO FAR. We are not a serious country.

I firmly believe if these people had the competence of, say, the staff around Bill Clinton (last time any of this worked), we would have fallen completely to an autocratic ruler. The thing keeping these fragile institutions alive is the fact that all these people are so, so goddamned stupid.

Brendan @bpdiamond.bsky.social · 18/09/2026
This is my thing: for all the desire for autocracy and personality cult, Trump remains an almost unconscionably stupid man who surrounds himself with other stupid people who will glaze him.

Sam Alito should never have been on the court to begin with. If y'all will remember, he was the second nominee after Harriet Miers withdrew due to not being conservative enough for W's base. Bush was a pussy who was afraid of his base.

tl;dr let the AI bubble burst before you regulate it, or the biggest corporations are the only winners.
000
Brendan @bpdiamond.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
They want regulation so their competitors have to disarm, because these companies have been lighting cash on fire for a decade. The well is drying up, but none of them wants to be the first to stop. That's why they're begging for regulation. Please, please be smarter than your peers on this.

Brendan @bpdiamond.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
Sean, this is o/t, but I am hoping you won't support AI regulations. AI *absolutely* should be regulated. But if Congress does what the AI Big Three want right now, it's basically a bailout.

I do not know and cannot verify that. But it certainly is possible. Either way, Gayle King sold out generations of Black South Africans who lived under apartheid for clicks from people who hate her because of the color of her skin. She's utterly unserious.
011
Brendan @bpdiamond.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
And now Gayle is laundering the reputation of Elon Musk's apartheid-loving mother. Absolutely shameful, especially given Gayle's racial background. That woman does NOT see the woman who interviewed her as an equal.

Yet another reason to keep Newsom as far away from power as we want MAGA to be. He is a chatlatan techbro wannabe with absolutely no national political instincts. He hired a good social media director. That's it.

@sanders.senate.gov has absolutely lost me for good. I caucused for him in WY; my spouse was one of his DNC delegates. This is beyond the pale. You don't partner with fascists on anything, Senator. You do not "have to hand it to them." Way to show you're just as big a fraud as the centrist Democrats

As a suicide survivor, it really makes me angry when people universalize the idea that suicide is always a tragedy. Would we feel bad if Epstein or Manson had shot themselves in the head in a parking lot? There are bad people in the world, and we should not for one minute lament their deaths.

Brendan @bpdiamond.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
This is a tragedy for those left behind. But I am not gonna feel bad for a guy who willingly signed up for the Gestapo and then was too incompetent even for them. Don't forget: Hitler died by suicide, too. Should we consider *that* sad, too? Not every death is sad, even those killed by suicide.

In this case, they want the government to save them from themselves. But they still want government to step in because they feel they *can't*. The government is more likely to act on fantastic (and wrong) "end of the world" stories than "the bubble will burst" stories. They want a bailout.
000
Brendan @bpdiamond.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
The bubble-bursting moment is coming. We should let each and every one of these companies go down -- not because AI can't be useful for some things, not because we don't care about the job losses, but because they are run by evil men who are looking to the government for yet another bailout.

Brendan @bpdiamond.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
I honestly think that regulation is good! But regulation, in this case, will be a catastrophe. These companies have been setting mountains of money on fire for the last decade, and it has ramped up dramatically in the last 3-4 years. They are going broke.

Brendan @bpdiamond.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
Michael is absolutely right that AI is not going to kill us in ten years. It's too stupid, and the people running the companies programming it are also too stupid. But that won't stop these companies from pushing it into everything, even where it makes no sense whatsoever.

Brendan @bpdiamond.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
Want to be extraordinarily clear: AI sucks, but we have to be clear about *why* it sucks. It doesn't suck because it's going to end the world; it sucks because it's going to make the world shitty and unlivable for all but the broiest techbros. Elon will be fine; Michael will not.

IMO it’s pretty obvious that Anthropic and OpenAI are burning cash at unsustainable rates so they want to collude under the guise of safety regulations, cut down on research costs, prevent new more efficient competitors from entering the market, and split LLM demand between them.

Reminder that @gavinnewsom.bsky.social is completely and utterly compromised by AI and techbros and absolutely cannot be allowed to win the Democratic nomination for president. I don't even care if we have to go with a centrist like Pete or Ossoff. We cannot allow Gavin Newsom to become president.

Jared Kushner is not "on the other side of the aisle." He's not an elected official. He's not an administration official. He's the president's son-in-law and a private citizen. You do not, in fact, have to take meetings with relatives of the president. Some might even say you should *not* do that
