I built a Chrome extension yesterday that injects a button into a shared mailbox in our Outlook web so that our admins can look up the given mail sender in our CRM with a single click. It was surprisingly easy! Love to make our Support team happy 😊.

During a routine Rails server upgrade, a misconfigured Metabase process sneaked in and took the port 3000. Repeatedly, even after killing it (through systemd automatic restarts). It took me 15 minutes to figure this out and get rid of it...

Thanks for the nudge! I removed the browser check from all our apps. The weirdest thing is that this effectively blocks you from using the mobile device preview in the browser as all the virtual devices have too old User Agent strings… So weird!😣

AFAIK at Basecamp they prefer running it from workstations, we run it from both environments. GHA deploys mean fewer things for our devs to bother with (especially the build context - "am I deploying the right commit?").

Speed up Kamal deploys in GitHub Actions

One related thing I shared lately was this one dev.to/nejremeslnic... but that's rather specific to GitHub Actions. For me the trickiest part was to learn "enough" Docker (I haven't had much experience with Docker up till recently) after I realized Kamal is just a thin wrapper around it.

Also, as much as I like the simplicity of ufw, it is insecure when used with Docker. www.howtogeek.com/devops/how-t... I was scared to apply the recommended hacks so I moved to firewalld instead. And if I had the option, I'd probably use the hosting-provided firewall instead.
