ugh no. the only recaps I want are the ones written by authors for their own books, or the chaotic ones from friends who are in love with the books. these are the only folks who will know what is actually important

how to draw a medieval cat in two easy steps

a simple tutorial on how to draw a medieval cat. step 1 shows a basic “normal cat" with no details. step 2 shows the same cat but with a "human face" added, featuring a straight mouth and serious eyes. the final drawing combines both elements — a cat with a human-like face, surrounded by sparkles ✨

For real! It’s disturbing. I wouldn’t think twice if this was American, but our politicians usually have more decorum. I don’t like this. This behaviour should not be considered acceptable.

Seriously! It’s like some people are trying to talk directly into my mouth and they haven’t figured out that is not speech/listening works. I’ve found people more likely to gtfo of my personal bubble when I am masked though, so even more bonus points for masking.

Are you worried that merchants are trying to sneak unfit eels into your town? Should you be? This was an ongoing concern in medieval London, & so the city had customs workers who unpacked, inspected, & repacked all suspicious barrels of eels. Which, really, is not a great job. 🗃️🧪

Meme. Black and white medieval drawing of two men standing at a dock next to a ship. They are each holding their hands apart as if measuring something. One man is looking at the other, who is lookin at his hands. Behind them is a busy city. There is a man aboard the ship, reaching out his hand towards the two men on the dock. It seems likely that he is waiting on their decision before he can get off the ship, or at least get his cargo off the ship.

Alternately, the ship is pulling away from the dock and the man on the ship -- who we will call Gerard -- is reaching back towards his friends on the dock. They were all supposed to sail to Bordeaux together, but his friends got into an argument about how long a yard is, and they've missed their boat's departure. Gerard is despairing, because Bob had all of their money, and Antawn had their passports, and he can see problems ahead.

Meme text reads:
"Do we have to?
I just washed my hands!"

exactly! we've all been sad about not getting arcs before, that's just part of it. and not everyone gets into the influencer programs, that's part of applying for something. i couldn't help myself, i had to go look 🙈 the ARC they're talking about it is literally on netgalley lol (in some countries)

Totally. I've just seen some of the outrage over someone selling The Knight and the Moth for like $675 or something like that. Someone people need to log off and stop obsessing over strangers. People like this are why I can't bring myself to be on threads hah

Thread or Alive is a short story about a sentient Henley. It’s hilarious, unless maybe you like Henleys. In which case, I can’t help you and I’m not sorry 😂 (this is on KU or you can buy it for super cheap)

Book cover for Thread or Alive by RC. Has pink text over the ends of spools of white cotton fabric.

what nasa wants you to think black holes look like vs what they ACTUALLY look like:

This image shows the black hole at the center of the Milky Way, Sagittarius A*. It appears as a blurry glowing orange circle with a dark hole in the middle.

It’s definitely tidier, but the before wasn’t bad to begin with. I am also impressed at not only the colour matching but the size matching. It’s quite satisfying to look at.

I’m team sensible chapters. I read a book last year that was 600+ pages and only like 7 chapters but the bulk of the book was in probably 4 chapters. It was rough 😅

There’s some way of doing it by responding with a pin emoji. I know this isn’t that helpful but I find it weird and have never done it myself. I’d really like a save feature.
