this really is just the logical endpoint of the like decade plus of bad faith localization discourse where people would just pretend you can take idioms and wordplay from other languages and swap it to english wholesale

Almost every hobby or passtime I've had my entire life - comic books, action figures, trading cards, personal computers, even *the movies* - has been consumed by a bunch of gambling addicts desperate for some new speculative market and we should make gambling illegal because it's their fucking turn

A good fresh Star Trek take on those fake isekai title jokes

A tumblr screenshot showing a post and two reblog responses, reading:
1. "star trek would be the ideal fictional universe to get trapped in because you'd explain your situation and they'd be like yeah makes sense. no further questions. fortunately we can use the mysterious warp signature emitting from this system's icy moon to counterface with the solar radiation and slingshot you back home"
2. "I'm from a universe where your world is all a work of fiction." Benjamin Sisko, nodding. "That happened to me once."
3. "I Got Isekaid Into The Star Trek Universe And They Quickly Understood What Was Happening"

Super Mario Sunshine is surprisingly more realistic than later Mario games in one specific aspect: here, Mario will start drowning if he hangs on to a ledge in such a way that water is flowing into his nose and mouth, as one would in real life.

Observe Mario holding on to a ledge that water is flowing over in Super Mario Galaxy (left) and Super Mario Odyssey (right). If realistic physics applied, he should start drowning since his nostrils and mouth are covered by water flowing into them.
However, in these games the air depletion/drowning state is tied to the swimming animation. As long as Mario is not visibly swimming, he cannot be drowning even if he is covered by water.
In Super Mario Sunshine, however, air depletion is decoupled from swimming as an action, allowing Mario to realistically start drowning in this situation (note him flashing red and his air meter depleting).
However, he is saved by Sunshine's (also unique among 3D Mario platformers) ledge tiredness mechanic. After hanging on for 20 seconds, Mario will let go. This is also realistic, since why would he let himself drown?

Obviously mine started as a speculative take on what the rest of the OOTR design could look like before we got a full look at it, but I think enough divergent evolution has occurred that you can say these are two separate designs

It's a weird little game that I adore. I also don't see the point in comparing them! Ocarina is the groundwork, but Majora's using that groundwork to tell something different! And they work so well together because of the groundwork Ocarina laid down.

have you heard this fact about Donkey Kong Bananza?

There's a little-known piece of hidden dialogue in Donkey Kong Bananza. If you yell "Oh, Banana!" alongside the game 100 times, a voice from your door will say "I'm filing another noise complaint."

With the rise of AI I need to introduce people to "The Test". The test is a game where you search for restaurants and food branding that looks the most old or amateur you can find. Branding that looks like it's over 30 years old, low quality bad lighting jpgs of food or people, comic sans, etc.
