I would say Jerusalem by Alan Moore, read by the superb Simon Vance. Very long, hugely entertaining, thought-provoking BUT it does have a r*pe scene and a depiction of terrorism as I recall. Neither hugely graphic to my mind but more than enough for some.
But boy, is it a good audio book.
