The trans women in sports panic has got to be one of the GOP's most successful manufactured culture war campaigns. Somehow they got a lot of people who would otherwise say they support trans rights to somehow fear "fairness" in sports. It's a non-issue.

Fundamental Generative LLM problems: 1) Context gets too deep causes model collapse. 2) Bias to find a path causes hallucinations. 3) It can't invent anything fundamentally new. 4) It's impossible to prevent prompt injection. There is no separate control and data plane. This is a number 4.

The Facial Expressions of Tethys by artist Julius von Bismarck. A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time. Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves.

I think it's just this. They aren't thinking hard about it and deciding on a fiendish "who are you going to vote for" or "two wings of the same bird" scheme. They're just absolute idiots who hate the idea of standing for anything. Just blindly do the process, make compromises, run fundraisers.

The dishonest things that BBM has done in the pursuit of all that traffic are genuinely mind-blowing. One of the wildest: it's often created completely fake writers, and slapped their names on vast amounts of content that's completely AI-generated
Along the way, BBM has indulged in breathtaking acts of dishonesty — often in ways that seem specifically devised to manipulate platforms owned by Google, where Ahrefs data suggests that it sources the preponderance of its traffic. (Last year, BBM wrote in a press release that its enormous audience was “driven by organic reach through Google Discover and search.”)

One of BBM’s many unscrupulous practices, insiders confirmed to us, is that it has often invented entire fake personas for nonexistent writers — we found more than 50 spread across its dozens of sites — and published content under their names without revealing to readers that they weren’t real people.

As I said the first time Trump proposed tariffs: this is precisely why he likes them! It makes everyone come to him on bended knee, begging for exemptions. It makes economic survival dependent on his whim. That, not any economic theory, is the whole attraction. Mafia boss thinking.

Okay so @defector.com has had an odd glitch since the site redesign a couple of weeks back where the wrong photo and headline are often put together on the main page and I was going to ask them about fixing it but this just happened and as far as I'm concerned they have to leave it as is.
Screenshot for a Defector podcast episode with the headline "Consider the Emotional Lives of Scallops" only the accompanying photo is a white gormless stubbled red-headed UK singer of recent notoriety giving a flat smile to the camera while wearing a washed out peach top as beige as he is against a flat background. So, actually, probably a scallop anyway.

This is what they mean when they say crime is happening, that they're calling more people "criminal" because they feel like they are. And yes, most of the time that means they don't look straight/white/local christian/etc.
In the conservative mindset crime is an issue of identity, not actions.
A person identified as a criminal doesn't need any due process, you don't need any evidence, you just need to effectively identify them as "a criminal".
What was their crime? It doesn't matter. It doesn't even matter if they committed one or not. They are ontologically a criminal, and guilty by their nature.
A non-criminal, on the other hand, is entitled to unlimited lenience and forgiveness when they mistakenly act against their innocent nature.
"We are innocent, and they are guilty."
